FUNimation currently owns the exclusive online streaming rights for One Piece so we most likely will not be able to offer One Piece on our site any time soon, if ever. Crunchyroll and FUNimation have competing video streaming services so direct collaboration wouldn't be likely.

Out of all the shows in the world, they had to get one piece? I was hoping CR would get it within a year or so. =___=;;;
I also wasn't aware we were competeing with FUNimation

All companies that have similar services, compete. So it's not exactly a head to head battle but there are only 3 big Anime streaming services so the competition would be more apparent than say 5 years down the road when there may be more legal Anime streaming services and the competition is spread.

What I like Crunchyroll is your forum (where you can ask around), so I like that One Piece was on this site and not so close to 4kids.
What is the possibility of licensing One Piece for Latin America? (Considering that their site only works for the United States not think they have the license of these countries or am I wrong?)

sorry if I do not understand because I use google translator

Well, bringing One Piece to crunchy would benefit the non-American viewers. I mean, there are so few non-American viewers on crunchy right now, if you guys could get One Piece to most of the other parts of the world, I think the popularity would increase greatly and chances to get rights for streaming them inside and outside America would increase greatly, since it is a well known anime and a good one.

FUNimation likes to upload their shows to Hulu. You can find One Piece here(http://www.hulu.com/one-piece). As far as I know however Hulu doesn't offer anything higher than 480p and is completely ad supported as such you can't pay for membership to remove them or get higher quality. If you'd like you can still discuss One Piece on it's CR profile page(http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/One_Piece).

I hope crunchyroll is able to stream one piece.I say this because I'm tired of watching one piece(my rank #1 shonen jump big 3) in 480p,also not to mention the ad's and(placement of ad's timing)if ad's are inserted by hand.I also find the cr player better than funimations(sorry funi)

GO GO NECRO POST POWERS!

I just have to say that, as far as quality, organization, and the way you handle your site, Crunchyroll is miles ahead of Funimation, or any other site out there, period. I feel like I am practically stealing from you all every month with how cheap a premium membership is.

That said, if One Piece were here, that would be it. Game Over, other sites. Just look at the sad state of the Hulu/Funi stream of One Piece. It's standard definition with a big Toei logo all over the bottom right of the screen... just horrible, really.

CR streams shows with respect (in hi-res) and dignity (discreet watermark/logo).

Thumbs up, you guys. And you should totally fight tooth and nail for One Piece, because it truly is the last piece of the puzzle that's missing here.

The problem with Hulu and Funimation is that only America can view content such as One Piece on those websites, so people like me who live in the UK or any other country are screwed, surprise surprise -.-

It isn't currently financially viable for CR to license a show if they cannot get it for the U.S. market. Therefore, if a show is already licensed by another company in the U.S., and their contract will not allow CR to license it for streaming, that currently rules out CR getting the show.

not actually, what they need is to open branches outside the united states, so the license restictions do not apply, in other words, they need to evolve to a multinacional company then, the licence restrictions would not apply. (like i already stated)

How exactly would license restrictions "not apply" simply by opening branches outside the United States? Are you proposing CR open other branches that would then stream anime illegally to other countries?
