Park Min Young to play the female lead on “City Hunter”

Actress Park Min Young has been confirmed for the female lead role in the upcoming drama, “City Hunter.”

The new SBS Wedsnesday-Thursday drama will air its first episode on May 25th. She will play ‘Kim Nana’, a woman experienced in the martial arts and is a guard for the Blue House (Korea’s equivalent of the White House). ‘Kim Nana’ will meet and fall in love with MIT graduate, ‘Dr. Lee Yoon Sung’.

It’ll definitely be an interesting role for the actress, as she’ll be required to learn new skills for her character. ‘Kim Nana’ is especially proficient in judo, and since she’s a bodyguard as well, viewers will get to see her sweat and run around in both her blue uniform and sleek black attire.

The drama’s representative said, “It took a long time to find an actress that would fit perfectly. Her young and healthy image goes well with the role.”

Park Min Young will be working alongside actor Lee Min Ho, who plays the male protagonist ‘Lee Yung Jong’.

How boring. Lee Min Ho isn't playing a womanizer anymore.

I was expecting this drama to be the darker version of Fugitive: Plan B.

Now that I know it isn't going to be (anything like the manga) I really have no interest in watching it.

Lee Jun-hyuk joins City Hunter

Lee will play a prosecutor with the Seoul District Prosecutor’s Office, a workaholic characterized by a strong sense of duty with dreams of becoming attorney general. He doesn’t believe in love and intends to marry a woman with a sterling background…but things never go the way we intend, do they? Instead, an accident involving his father leads him to an encounter with a Blue House bodyguard (Park Min-young), and he finds himself unexpectedly drawn to her. Thus begins the love triangle between him, the bodyguard, and her other love interest (our hero), Lee Min-ho, who’s part of the international communications team at the Blue House....~Dramabeans~

Lee Min Ho aims to show off his swimming skills for ‘City Hunter’

Actor Lee Min Ho is presently training his body and mind with swimming lessons.

As SBS’s ‘City Hunter’ prepares to go into filming, Lee Min Ho has been taking swimming lessons every day since the end of last year at a hotel swimming pool in Kangnam. He’s shown a sophisticated and sensual side through his previous works, KBS’ ‘Boys over Flowers’ and MBC’s ‘Personal Preference’, but for his new drama, Lee Min Ho will strive to exhibit more of his masculine side through the character, ‘Lee Yoon Sung’ – a previous MIT professor and current Cheongwadae national communications agent.

An association of Lee Min Ho passed on, “While tackling brilliant action scenes that emphasize his long limbs, Lee Min Ho will also be showing off his swimming skills. He’s exercising regularly every day so that he could show a more natural appearance, rather than professional techniques.”

Because his breakthrough role in ‘Boys over Flowers’ was with a character who couldn’t swim, Lee Min Ho is determined to show off his swimming skills through this opportunity.

An associate of the drama raised anticipation by hinting, “We’re also planning a shot of Lee Min Ho’s muscular body in the swimming scenes as well.”

“City Hunter” will air its first episode on May 25th.

Cast of “City Hunter” attends their first script-reading together

On March 14th, the cast members of SBS’s upcoming drama, “City Hunter“, participated in their first script-reading at the SBS Ilsan Production Center.

Lee Min Ho, Park Min Young, Lee Jun Hyuk, KARA’s Goo Hara, Chun Ho Jin, Kim Sang Joong, Lee Hyo Jung, and Lee Gwang Soo worked together for a total of three hours in a friendly atmosphere, exhibiting professional attitudes and perfect teamwork. The leading stars had even voluntarily stayed behind afterwards to further rehearse on their own in other rooms.

The drama is based off the original Japanese comic series, “City Hunter“, although minor tweaks have been added to make it work with a Korean background.

The drama is currently scheduled to air its pilot episode on March 25th, and has already been earning much anticipation, thanks to its all-star cast. That hype got bumped up another notch after it was revealed that PD Jin Hyuk (who’s known for “Shining Inheritance” and “Prosecutor Princess“) and writer Hwang Eun Kyung (who’s known for “Daemul“) had teamed up for the production.

Producers of “City Hunter” stated, “The scene from the script-reading was a scene of perfect cooperation between young, passionate actors, and the older, more experienced seniors. We could all feel their determination in hoping to make this the best drama possible.”

Well, the name of the drama is what cought my interest first.
The fact that it is a live action of an old manga is not interesting to me and I'll ignore it actually *lol*

The cast seems fine, don't really care as long as the acting is good.
