I believe it's a waste of time until you actually meet the person and have a physical relationship with them.

Its ok if you live in the same country imo but it can work long-distance as long as you meet eachother but I refuse to make it official until I meet them in person.

Nah I don't think I could ever do it. I'm a touchy feely kinda person, so it wouldn't work.

I know that these relationships are intriguing in nature. Beware. Such relationships would only work if there was more courage than fear in the relationship.

I have had plenty platonic relationships that became official online. It is sad, and heart wrenching at times. But, in the end, I would never exchange the time spent for the time lost. It was worth it.

Distances are not so far when you are willing to pay for the plane ticket.

Some tips to making online relationships or ANY relationship to work...

1 - Be prepared for it to end at any time. Being too attached will make it unbearable if one of you backs out.
2 - Be friends online for a while and like any other relationship, Pace it if you want it to last.
3 - Never make promises you are not sure you can keep.
4 - Understand that the other person had and still does have a life before meeting you.
5 - Have an understanding of what each other wants out of the relationship.

An online relationship isn't really pathetic. It is a hard lifestyle to choose. Anyone who boldly chases this life has my kudos.

I've MET people I had developed 'relationships' with online... This was before the advent of digital cameras... yeah... I got one hairy woman, and another with 27 alternate personalities.

I'd advise anyone to not shop online for romance.

I have a few times and they did not work out but that does not mean that an online relationship would not work for other people. A few of my relatives are experiencing happy relationships with people that they have met online, talked to, and met later on.
