well i was happy about the announcement of the titles that will be available starting in a few days now. as i watched the first seasons of both letter bee and Sora No Otoshimono and was looking forward to watching their new season however i am now disappointed that sora no otoshimono forte come friday will not be available above the 49th parallel and yet the first season was. i do wish i had the money and credit card to pay for a 1yr membership but saddly i do not and therefore i have no problems waiting a week for shows to become available for free with the hiccups of the ads as i like that im more or less watching anime on crunchyroll legally. i do hope that there will be a chance that canadians will be able to watch the 2nd season of sora either around the time that free members can watch the series or before the producers of it have it removed from cr so i'll just wait and see and hope that it becomes available to all of north america not just america

For this and the two other simulcast titles acquired via Kadokawa, the ANN announcement stated, "The three new simulcasted series will be available in North and South America, the Middle East, Africa, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines."

If you are seeing that Sora no Otoshimono:Forte will not be available in Canada, you may want to hit up the Help/Support/Feedback forum with a question about this before Friday.

We should be able to watch it when it comes out. I mean North America includes Canada. We could simply be getting that message because there are no videos there ATM.

Although the cute little announcement from the voice actresses seems to have vanished

hopefully it's a glitch and will be fixed by friday

well im hoping that its a glitch in that reguard however when i clicked on Letter Bee Reversei and one of the others that dont have videos yet seeing as they havent yet started i didnt get the message saying that they werent available in my region just a thing saying more or less that i was jumping the gun which i am well aware of lol and i also noticed that the seiyuu video has now disappeared too because when i click on the link for it, it sent me to the Sora No Otoshimono Forte page. like i mentioned in my previous post that im disappointed if it does end up that only those members that live in America can only see Forte out of the north american continent considering with the first season all of north america was able to watch the series

ancient one if come friday when Forte is out for the premium members and it says that its locked due to the licensing restrictions i may then inquire with support about it although im sure that other canadian users who are looking forward to watching Forte may or may not beat me to the inquiry. should it be that cr was unable to license it completely for all of north america i will just live with the disappointment

But that would be highly unlikely.

Valerian is US-only, but that seems to be built into the original split of the rights in a French-Japanese co-production ~ a French producer would naturally claim Canadian rights up front for the Quebecois audience, long before the series is produced and its known whether there is any interest.

However, the only issue for a series like this is potential DVD licenses, and the DVD distributors seek North American rights.

back when gundam 00 was first on cr it was limited to only the US and i have no real issue when things like that happen as for Valerian it may be that there is a canadian license somewhere and personally i wasnt all that interested in that show. now however considering that "heaven's lost property" was available for all of the north american continent the first time around it seemed odd to me that for the season season of the show to suddenly be unavailable to canada in the announcement there had been nothing to say that cr hadnt gotten the license for all of north america or that they were limited on that show as i understand that there is always a possibility of different shows not being available in canada although said show is available in the US i just accept that possibility should that be the case now and as i havent contacted a staff member with cr to inquire about it yet to get an official judgement im just playing the wait and see fence sitting at the moment.

now as for dvd licenses and distribution i can understand why companies like FUNimation would want to license for all of the north american continent seeing as the Can/US border is very close therefore it would cut down a small bit of piracy also in a business sense they would make more money having it available for all of north america as well.

The US and Canada is actually "region 1" in the DVD region scheme. Region 2 is Japan, Europe and overseas European territories, the Middle East, and South Africa (!). Region 3 is Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Region 4 is Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, most of the Pacific Island countries and Latin America. Region 6 is China, and Region 5 is the rest of Africa and Asia.

So normally if rights are split between US and Canada, its a broadcast issue (television broadcast rights are country by country).

well looking at the previews it appears that it was probably a glitch as to why i got the message that Sora No Otoshimono forte was not available in my region seeing as i just watched the preview and click the link to look at the Forte page as well and the message was no longer there.

as for the whole region 1 and what not i was never really worried about it and of course i can understand the tv broadcasts rights playing into the reason as to why a year or so back with gundam 00 being unavailable to canadian cr users seeing as the canadian tv company would prefer that the show they bought broadcast rights to, to be viewed on their channel so to get payment from the ad companies and whatnot to keep their stations alive therefore if no one is watching it there they arent getting their money
