In the VERY very beginning I used to crack up because it sounded it really weird and their high pitched voices and cutesy-ness was slightly overwhelming but even then I preferred the original language..surprisingly you catch onto the language pretty fast and then the dubbed versions sound so wrong.

Subtitles stay a bit more true to the original content. But you can watch the actual animation more comfortably with the dubs. I watch it with dubs and subtitles, and if something sounds too iffy, I go back and read what they were originally meant to say. I hate non-native Japanese people who say the dubs sounds too "stupid" when they don't even know that the Japanese voices they're hearing might sound stupid as fuck to the Japanese themselves. Waps can DIAF.

I think when you hear any language for the first time it sounds a little weird, but i do watch both sub and dub, i mean come on i started with dub and moved to sub, love them both.

I prefer subs in most cases. There are a few dubs that I think are very well done, but I stick to subs for the most part.

"Other languages sound funny" It's not swaheili, for Christ's sake.

I totally agree Eng Dub sounds so wrong in so many anime. It's disrespectful to anyone who's after a good show to only hear horrendous actors with added terrible voices.

That being said it doesn't mean there aren't any 'corny free' Eng Dub, there's a few I have personally watched myself and had no qualms about them. To name a few:

1. Ergo Proxy - Dub was exceptionally good, especially with Vincent.
2. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
3. Code Geass
4. Appleseed & Appleseed Saga Ex Machina

Some people just watch the Japanese Dub because they have a preference for it, others like myself have a tendency for quality English Dub where they can find it.

Otherwise I'll settle for the Japanese Dub, and still have no qualms about it, except when sometimes they have a complicated sentence with a character saying strange elongated foreign nouns and then the subtitle just zooms right passed you.

By the way the list up there is after my viewing only of the English Dub, to me it was so good I never watched those anime in Japanese Dub. If your after good caliber English Dub then it's my personal recommendation.

Title doesn't exactly relate to the OP in such ways.

Sorry but, this thread can be much better off as a yes/no poll. Though I believe there's this kind of poll somewhere in the archives.
