I don't take pride in being 1/4 Japanese :/ neither do I care to read or write. ( I can speak though ) .

P.S: This is probably a duplicate.

Been to Japan many times and picked some up while out there. Can't do Kanji though.

Unlike most I learned from actual experience and books not from anime. -__-

I can't.

But I always wonder, you know how watching a few fansubbed anime episodes quickly familiarizes you with certain japanese words, and things like name suffixes? Well could you fansub a whole series like that, but just adding more and more untranslated words throughout the whole thing until you've basically learned the language? I keep thinking that would be a fun thing for someone to try.

Well since I had accumulated a fairly large vocabulary (but not grammar) for having not studied japanese, I finally got around to learning it properly. It was fairly easy to learn since I had a head start. But now my situation is a bit reveresed. I know all the grammar, particles and such, but I haven't expanded my vocabulary much since learning that part :/

I'm sure I could "survive" in Japan without using any english, but I really need to find the time to further expand my vocabulary, as that is the only thing between me and being genuinely "good" at it. Of the things I do know, I seem to handle reading japanese pretty fine too (writing I haven't concerned myself with, and typing japanese is easy on Windows).
