Mouse isn't that old, it is vintage 2003. It seems like not to long ago I was having a friend of mine pickup the Mouse DVDs when they were released in Japan and mail them to me.

Too many things on crunchyroll are only for north american viewers (good and bad shows).

No offence intended, but I pay the same amount of money and deserve the same amount of value of my subscription.

I think it's only fair that there are different payment plans for different regions untill Crunchyroll fixes this oversight and balances their content for all their subscribers. Unless Crunchyroll only wants to cater to US viewers. Fair enough, but then I'll go back to 'fansubs' ;)

As said time and time again CR has no control over region right of the shows! Media Blasters is an american anime distribution company. They cant negotiate rights for series in other countries. Seriously CR need to make a statement about this and make it a sticky. I'm sick and tired of CR being blamed for something they have no control over.

They have full control over the subscription amounts and they are fully aware of the fact that their content is slanted in favour of one region.

In my opinion it would be fair to lower the subscription rates of European, Asian, African, South American and Australian members and raise those of Canadian and American members. That or make a larger effort to license new/old shows for our regions.

On the flip side f the coin, I have to wonder if CR is able to sell enough advertising internationally that free streaming to most countries outside the U.S., Canada, and possibly U.K. "pull their weight", so to speak. It not, it could be that CR sees the paid international memberships as subsidizing the free memberships in many areas.

What would you think about CR lowering subscription fees for international users if that also meant eliminating free ad-supported streams in nations where the advertising was insufficient?

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing CR get some titles for those outside North America that are tied up here (i.e., those licensed by Funimation and other U.S. distributors), but I doubt many people here would agree with me. Worse, I doubt CR would be interested in referring North American viewers to the competition to view those titles that viewers in other nations could see on CR.

The advertising should pay for the free users. If it doesn’t simply add more advertisements or choose ones with a better conversion rate. I have no insight into the demographics of Crunchyroll. So I have no idea which group contributes what to the advertising income, however general knowledge of how making money with online advertisements works doesn’t lead me to suspect that say a UK user would be worth less than an US user. A lead is a lead as long as you send it to the right landing page.

Sadly it seems that in its current incarnation Crunchyroll isn’t a true substitute for simply downloading fan-subs if you’re not an American user.

It’s a shame for us, but I am glad for American anime fans that have a legal good karma alternative to downloading. My European self will give it another month before I press my unsubscribe button and wait for something that offers the same good karma solution to me.

They just announced 7 news shows from the new season starting in October that are ALL watchable in the UK.

Nothing from MediaBlasters will be open in the UK because they only own the US rights and that's all.
