Internet Censorship Law
Posted 9/29/10 , edited 9/29/10

..........i know it's successful but it doesn't change the fact that people are stupid. It's like buying roms from the nintendo shopping channel for a game I already own. Not happening I proudly hacked my wii, psp, ds and ps3 to run commercial back ups of my games since I do not want double for something that I already bought. On the side note this bill does scare me a bit but not enough to get really worried.

Something else I would like to touch on.

What about media that is out of print, and is not available in stores to buy anymore?

Digimon Adventure is an example. The first season of the Digimon series is not available to buy legitimately, and what WAS made and distributed is now out of print. It is an example of a show that was taken down because of copyright law, and no permission was given to those who posted episodes. If someone wants to watch this show, it has become extremely difficult. It's like the show is tossed away in a landfill of other shows. If someone knows where I can get a copy of the show, please let me know.

It's a good skill to be able to hack your gaming consoles, and be able to play backups. I think the reason for that fuss is the individual licensing for each individual console. So, just because you have a legitimate copy of a game on the playstation 1 does not make it legal to make a backup of that game to be played on the playstation 3 or the Playstation Portable, or any other console, because they were not licensed for those other consoles, only for the playstation 1. But you can make copies all you want for that one console the game is on.

I think there's all kinds of stupid laws to protect intellectual property.

What is lost when a copy is made of something? No data is lost. With electronic media, how does a copy and paste procedure lessen the value of the electronic media? As long as a computer functions properly, the process of copying and pasting can go on indefinitely. For physical objects it is understandable how if something is taken then that something is lost. There are only so many materials in the world to make so many copies of an object.

Ideas are spreadable. When one is exposed to something, unless the memory is lost in relation to an event, the idea/event cannot be lost. But ideas are intellectual property. You can't steal it. Intellectual property is intangible. How can something be stolen if it has no physical structure whatsoever? If ideas are "taken" then it only becomes a competitive race to see who can complete the work of the idea fastest. But the idea can never be stolen.
Ideas are knowledge and information. Information is spreadable. I just gave you information. You didn't steal it from me. Now you can spread it if you want.

easy way to say this is that its a communist/socialistic system like china has in their country over such things and people cry so much about their bad systems then they go and say lets do the same thing just word it differently. see this is what happens when we have democrate fools like obama in offices it brings us more to a socialized government even though our troops since the start of this country has fought and gave their lives to stop situations like these happening they are just gonna ignore it and push things like this through one step leads to another which leads to another this is only the start

They are trying to take that from us too

Yeah I'm sick of tired of that debates to be honest.

I dont think the people of America would let such a thing to happen

Honestly, a little money (which for us commoners means 100,000$+) can make things your way.

F**k America. I'll move to Japan if this passes.

Actually, I think Japan is worse(censorship) but then again you can simply find your "needs" on the streets.

China does have porn they just publish and re-edit doujins from japan lol, on manga scans i was referring to simple game screen caps or pics that I have in my profile.

I'm confident that China is actually censoring porn from the internet. Actually not just porn in particular but everything that can harm the communist status of China.

here's the public announcement

Chen Luming, vice president of Sohu, said the move was meant to raise people's awareness in purifying the online environment and stop making portals the scapegoats for troublemakers who intentionally upload obscene contents.

"We call on all Internet communities, media and netizens not to publicize nude photos, videos and literature ... and not to spread pornography... and show respect to people's privacy by not filing personal information." read the bulletin on its web page.

taken from xinhuanet news.

P.S.

OMG bzrro20 from your post.
That's an awesome statement you just said.
Hands down

If ideas are "taken" then it only becomes a competitive race to see who can complete the work of the idea fastest. But the idea can never be stolen.

Let me get this straight, so you mean we need the government to help us protect ourselves from these materials?
If that's your argument, let me ask you this, do we really need someone to help us to protect us from these materials at the cost of other people's privacy and enjoyment?

I'm not intending to flame you or anything just analyzing your statements and English is not my best language to be honest

Freedom is the last thing I want taken from me. I'd rather be dead than be a slave.

This is what i feel too.

Then wouldn't that be going against everything America stands for? It would be hypocritical, they might as well get rid of or at least re-write the First Amendment all together.

Either way, I'm completly againts this bill.

My comments were purely satirical, it is difficult to imply sarcasm over the internet.

I am against this as much as anyone. You appear to see the point I was making though, this is ridiculous, it is our freedom to do as we wish and should not be controlled by the government.
