Jim Parsons basically IS the show.
Regardless, TBBT is probably my favorite show on television right now. So much nerdiness; how could you go wrong?

What makes BBT so good is that it's a SMART comedy rather than a dumb one. By dumb I mean, "Oh, look, another fat main character who somehow has a hot wife and he's lazy, eats a lot, and is rather unappreciative of everything and it's (supposedly) funny!"
By smart comedy I mean that each person is a reasonably successful individual, but each also has certain quirks to them which make them funny. Sheldon is...well, Sheldon, Howard is Jewish, lives which an overbearing mother, and dresses like he lives in the 1970s, Raj can't talk to or around women unless he's drunk, and has stereotyped overbearing Indian parents, and Leonard is the Straight Man who is actually the closest to being normal and socially competent. Then there's Penny and the other girls.

This is my favorite comedy since...the prince of Bel-Air  I don't watch too much tv and the 'comedy' shows I've seen were kind of dull or just not my taste...
I love every character and I agree that Sheldon is the show! but I do LOVE Howard and Raj!!! they all look right together and Penny fits so well in the show as well.
BTW, I always have to smile when Sheldon talks about anime I love those nerdies!! |

I like that the Big Bang Theory is the "smart" type of funny and not the trashy king of funny you see on family guy or south park. Don't get me wrong Family Guy and South Park are good shows except for the fact that on many occasions they go way too far in their jokes to the point in which it become very offensive.

I loved Big Bang Theory when I first saw it, but I think it's getting past its prime now. Some of the jokes are starting to slump.
But I will always have a special place in my heart for Howard. Love dem turtlenecks.

Im rather obsessed with Big Bang, on multiple levels.
I love how I just understand EVERYTHING they joke about in the show. Relationships? Comics? Sex? Anime? Video Games? Science? I get all of the references, on a much deeper understanding then (most) average viewers because of my personal interests. Geek is the new chic, and the new funny.
