just stream your anime in 480p from the PS3's browser, no need to mess with that Play On's bs. What makes me wonder if anything is in the making was that poll we had few months ago concerning which console we had, could be related to an app perhaps, with PS3 winning the poll of course.

Hmmm will have to try that. Latency will probably always be an issue, no matter what gets used. Buffer meh pl0x!

Best way to do so is Full Screen, Pause wait a min, then enjoy, and if you ever get an issue just give it a quick pause, but it doesnt happen that often. (could depend on your connection im not sure)

Add me to the list of people who would likely resubscribe if a PS3 app was offered. I cancelled my account years ago due to no ps3 streaming support and censored subtitles. As for the comments of stream through a browser in 480...no thanks that looks like complete garbage on a 52" tv. I would rather just wait a few weeks and download a hq fansub and support them instead. I would gladly support CR if they gave me the same quality of service fansub groups do for free as I would rather be legal than not.

Yeah No kidding I just got a PS3 and if there's a fully supported crunchy roll app for PS3 please inform me at my e-mail so I can subscribe. Right now my PS3 Completly freezes when I even view the crunchyroll website and it keeps asking for a plugin (java error? does't freeze if i turn it off but then its not possible to view anything). So I cant view crunchyroll no matter what. If anyone knows why it freezes my new PS3 please tell me a fix and Thank you!. ( I think its because Hulu doesnt like us lol!) I'm worried if this App will ever be created since I see t his thread is old and there is no real update...

The PS3 is an underpowered device and you expect it to play a flash video??!! It has only 512MB of RAM and a processor as powerful as an ARM processor, similar to the A4 chip on iPhone 4 and iPad. You guys are morons if you think Crunchyroll will come to PS3. This is due to high costs of obtaining the PS3 SDK and it's not worth it to create a CR app unless you have lots of people demanding for the app to justify the cost.

^ Don't call people morons, the specs you listed aren't accurate.

The PS3 is not an underpowered device, it is more powerful than the average person's computer. The implementation of Adobe Flash, as well as the browser, is just poor and is not allowed to use the fully power of the device; mainly as a way to restrict people from gaming on websites which competes with their own Playstation Store and physical games. This would be the same reason why the full power of the device was not allowed to be used on Linux installations, back when they allowed you to do it.

For reference, the PS3 currently plays 1080P videos on Netflix with 5.1 audio and was the first device to do so. So the only issues with creating an app for PS3 would be creating a business arrangement, getting a PS3 development kit, developing a good app, DRMing the videos and having the app approved for the Playstation Store. Though, this is definitely hard to accomplish so I wouldn't be able to say if or when we'll have an app on PS3.

BasouKazuma, way to handle that in a classy way. I probably would have been far more rude.

How about using something like HTML5? I'm not exactly sure how Apple does it, but think of the way they bring YouTube and other services to their iOS devices without using Flash at all. It has something to do with HTML5 emulating what Flash does somehow. Sorry I'm so useless on the details, but if you guys are able to figure that part out, that may solve one of the problems.

HTML5 is advanced enough to the point it can do what a flash video can do on YouTube, from a resizing videos to adding antonations, just like on Flash. For DRM, I'm not so sure about that. I have heard news that Flash is not needed to play Flash videos on iOS due to a new feature called live-conversion or something like that. Hopefully, CR would move to HTML5 as a long-term solution since Flash is dying and most devices don't use flash especially mobiles and tablets.

CR already manages to get other videos onto iOS devices. Why not use similar technology for the PS3 if Flash is going to be a problem?

I suspect the biggest problem with getting on the PS3 is literally that: getting on the PS3. The iOS family has an app store, and therefore a existing structure for creating an app and submitting it. AFAIK, no similar structure exists for the PS3.
