"Murderer...MONSTER!"

Loreilei woke up with a start. All the excitement from last night had left her lifeless in behind a grape barrel. Looking around, she realised why she had not been discovered by the villages - the village was too silent to begin with. Stale air hung above her and she stood up slowly, her head spinning from low blood pressure. Why is this scene so familiar... she couldn't help wondering if she had missed out something.

Stepping into the streets, all she could see was empty pavement and a ball of dirt rolled across the road. She sniffed the air and smelled something so sinfully delicious - blood. but it can't be right, the streets were clean, like no one had lived here...then a sudden thought struck her. she dashed across the street to a house with a door opened ajar. she pushed it open and clasped her hands to her mouth.

Blood...corpses..smell of death and despair...

She almost threw up at the sight of an old woman so brutally murdered with her guts spilling all over a kid beneath her who had his face disfigured. She stepped out of the house quickly and collided with someone behind her. strong hands grabbed her at her waist and spoke coldly into her ear. "looks like we left out another spoil of war..."

Fear struck her and she opened her mouth to scream. Someone was shaking her hard...how strange...

She opened her eyes, breathing hard and saw her face-to-face with a middle-aged lady in her apron. the lady looked worried.

"are you alright? you've been perspiring for awhile..."

Loreilei sat up slowly and nod her head. she turned to look around. She was in a cottage and she could smell the aroma of bakeries. she looked at the woman curiously.

"ahh you must be wondering how you got here! this is my humble home. i found you behind my bakery this morning. it's evening now, would you like something to eat? you can stay for the night. i live alone here and some company would do me some good tonight."

Loreilei merely smiled at the kind face lady and shook her face. She got out of bed and turned to face the lady once more. clasping her hands over the lady's, she enclosed a small package and bowed before leaving. sorry, i can't trouble anymore people... not after that reminder...that dragon is draining off my life energy by merely trying to read me....i need more practice

Loreilei looked at the dusky skies. the village was quiet with the gentle humming of people going around with the last work of the day. how long can this peace last? and she walked away

A cloudless night, enlightened by a full moon. A glade in the forest and two people facing each other. The bloody field was filled with corpses and blood.

The young man looked at her, having an agonized expression. He had blue-black hair with white strands, silver eyes, night-black wings. Old runes were shimmering around one of his hands and a pure white stone with a flame materialized out of it.

"I´m sorry
Sylin ." It meant something like ´my little one´. "Don´t hate me for what I had to do. When the time comes we´ll meet again. Until then will I protect from afar while D. and Luna will be beside you for me." The guy was standing there for a few moments and then turned around to walk away.

Ryora shouted his name to make him stop but he went farther and farther away like he told her. His name. If you could remember his name only this time.

Ryora remembered her dream from last night. The dream she had every time she felt asleep since three years. During the dream she knew the name of the man, but the moment she woke up his name slipped her mind and she only could memorize bits of the dream.
She wished her partners could tell her the truth about her and this nameless young man with the silver eyes.

As she thought about her past and who she was before, Ryora collected more informations about Zabardast and the group of rebels.

Sheridan worked on the flower basket, snipping off the edges of the stalks and arranging the flowers; she hummed a jolly tune as she worked.
"Viola~" She said when she was done and stepped back, admiring her work. She turned to look at Erik who was sitting in the chair behind her. "What do you think?"
"Yesss... delicious." He licked his lips as he looked at the flowers and Sheridan laughed and threw a stalk at him. "Not for eating!" She said and he sighed, "Fine."
"Speaking of eating, I'm hungry..." Sheridan said and rang a small bell was sitting on the table.
A maid entered the room and bowed, "Yes Milady?"
"Please prepare a meal for me." Sheridan said and the maid bowed and left the room.

Royce looked at his advisors in shock, "Charles is coming back?"
"Yes." The old man said.
"After I specifically told him he must never return." Royce looked angry.
"It seems he has backing of some groups." The advisor replied.
"You are being too lenient, your highness." Another advisor spoke. "You must crush this stirring before it becomes a wave and aims to destroy us." Or more specifically, you. The man added in his mind, his thin face looking sour.
Royce exhaled wearily and ran a hand across his forehead.

One of the youngest advisor to ever get admitted into the council, he earned the respect of the King and the envy of his fellow council members who were in their late sixties. At strapping age of forty, his uncanny ability to sense trouble before the others and make good predictions earned his seat. Yet with all these qualities, he was placed at the furthest seat from the King. Unforgivable!

after the meeting had concluded, he slipped into the shadows of the empty hallway.

"well how was it?" a silky voice asked. The advisor almost jumped out of his skin.

"what are you doing here, Les? It's too dangerous for both of us..."

"for you, maybe, I can escape easily remember?" Les laughed.

The advisor reluctantly agreed. There was no way the advisors would let him escape the gallows if they found out who he hid in his room. "The King is unsettled, just as you desired him to be."

"heh heh yes, let him stay that way. shaking him up a bit should do some good before the real danger strikes him good. I will not be back in the next few days. Here's your reward. keep us updated with the latest news and you will be rewarded." and Les slipped away.

The advisor shivered and walked unsteadily back to his room.

Meanwhile, Les was scaling the walls of the castle to escape. hah...if that man tries anything funny, I have more hands in the King's circle to help me..

Someone tried to sneak back into the village through the shadows the sun created with her light. Normal villagers wouldn´t see it. Feel no presence, see no movements and if they saw it they didn´t mind. But there didn´t only stay mere people.

"Pretty odd that you have to steel yourself into your own village, don´t think so Mister rebel?"
Ryora stood at the corner of a small house where Les hid himself.

He flinched because he had sensed her to late.

"Oh...hello..." Les said, trying to sound normal. "I didn't see you, what are you doing up so early, its barely dawn." He grinned at her, trying to put the question on her.
Ryora raised an eyebrow, looking unmoved and Les held up his hands, "Okay, guilty. I was out for some work." Then he looked at her. "What are you doing here though? Could it be... that you've decided to help us?" He asked hopefully.

"For the time being I´ll join you." Ryora shrugged." I have my own sense of truth and loyalty. And you should quit the thought that I´m a mere mercenary you can lure with money. I don´t fight for men which do only things for greed and might, you should remember this." She turned and walked to the little market of the village. Les followed her.
"You are quite a tough woman. Not many would speak in such way with an older man. Not that I have anything against it." As Les looked at Ryora from the corner of his eyes he could see her smile a little bit. What emotion she felt -if joy, sarcarsm, or others-, nobody could know.

Ryora stopped and faced the rebel leader. She had the hunch that Les had been in the palace of the kingdom before he came back. The words from the old man which said that he had some wealthy benefactors swirred in her head. If she was able to get deeper in this rebellion, maybe Ryora could change things from within if necessary.

"You may be older, but I dare to guess that I´m stronger in a fight. You saw how I fought but that was only at night." She started to walk to the market again. Letting Les make the decision to grab her bait or not.

Les eyes twinkled and as she stepped forward she found him in front of her. "Then why don't you show me what I'm missing out on?" Les said with a smile and looked at the sky, "After all, it is day now."

"You highness..." His advisor said quietly as Royce, who stood in front of the large window of his study, staring into the gardens.
"If I may have permission to speak?"
Royce nodded, not looking at him.
"Charles has always been a ...rascal..." The advisor coughed, "For a lack of better term."
"He is a scoundrel." Royce said flatly.
The advisor nodded slowly, his old face looking grave. "I was serving under your father when he was born and have known you two for longer than anyone in this kingdom. Since a young age, Charles has always been causing more mischief than good. It is his nature to make others take blame for his follies."
Royce remained still, staring out the window.
"If he comes...there will be much unneeded chaos in the kingdom." The advisor took a deep breath and spoke, "I know he is your brother, but I think you must eliminate this threat before it brings ruin to the kingdom."

She looked at his face. Her blood began to boil out of anticipation and enthusiasm. This happened everytime she was facing a fight. And as long as nothing serious occured she overlooked it. But if it did then .........
"Well, do you want to prepare yourself before we start our little amusement or come to business?" The earlier the better, Ryora thought.

Les gave her another smile. "Do you think I´ll chicken out or what? Come with me. I´ll show you the perfect place for the fight."
He turned to the direction they came from and Ryora followed him. D. and Luna were only half a step behind her. She hadn´t lied to him when she said that he hadn´t seen all of her skills when she defeated the bunch of bandits.
They went through the forest to a clearing. It was another and wider than the one before. Perfect for both of their intent. Ryora stopped a few meter behind Les as he faced her. D. and Luna transformed without a word and Ryora grabbed the shining katanas, swinging them like a pro.
Les only raised an eyebrow.

Les stood there looking defenseless, "You may attack first." He said gallantly.
"Oh, a gentleman?" Ryora said.
"Only in front of a lady." Les grinned.

The blue scales glinted under the sunlight as Erik swam just under the surface of the water.
He turned back to his human self when he reached the shore and walked onto the land, flexing his neck. He pulled on his robe and looked towards the snowy peaks that were visible from the valley.
His expressions were unreadable as he donned on his clothes and headed back to the kingdom.

Ryora stepped forward, letting both katanas behind. Les didn´t seem to carry any weapons and it would be boring if the fight ended to fast. Unimportant who got to win.
Another step and another. Suddenly she tossed forward in an incredible speed and for a second it seemed like she disappeared into thin air and got visible again. Behind Les. He turned around and blocked at the same time Ryora aimed for his head with her leg. Just as he tried to grab her feet, she jumped ,made a flip and sprinted to him again when she landed. At first it looked like she wanted to bring him down by pushing off his feet. So Les bounced in the air but then felt it was a mistake. The fists hit him in the stomach and on his right cheek. And before he fell to the ground she kicked him into his stomach.

Ryora stood there and Les got up, holding his stomach.
"Nice leg. You aren´t only good with the swords." He coughed.
She rolled her eyes. "Are you a drama queen? I perfectly know that you were holding back. You yourself said I attack first. Now it´s your turn. I´m waiting." She held her hands up and smiled.
Les smiled back.

He also stepped a few steps forward before he ran up to Ryora and slammed her over so both of them did a backward roll and landed crouched on the ground. Les clasped her hair, drew her to him and send her flying. Before her back and the tree met she spinned, repeled from the root and continued the fight with the rebel.
Both of them kicked, turned, hit, punched, defended and got hurt.
They didn´t have weapons only their bodies, but they didn´t held back with their strength. Several bruises were on arms, legs, stomaches and faces. Les had a sprained ankle and Ryora a sprained arm. Both of them breathed heavily, but didn´t drop their vigilance.

"Shit. My rips hurt like hell. Do you have steel in your shoes or what?" Les touched his rips. You could see a big bruises on the skin where Ryora had ripped his shirt.
Ryora grinned, her left eye was a little bit swollen. "No." She grimaced. "And you? You pushed me over like I´m a flower in a storm. I told you that you shouldn´t hold back but that didn´t mean you have to do what I said."
"Serves you right. The problem is there isn´t a winner in this fight. What do we do know Ryora?" Les ooked her into the eyes.
Ryora straightened her back. "I think the real fight should finally start. Till now it was the body. From now on are the other abilities." As she ended her words a bright flame appeared in her hands and made her face into a ghost-like mask.
For some reason Les wasn´t surprised that she wasn´t normal. And that had nothing to do with her strange bunnies which could transform into swords.

Les stretched out his hands and the earth began to shake. Rocks rose from the ground circling around him, mud and roots also floated in the air. Les is an earth manipulator. And a good one too. Ryora thought as she saw the spectacle and let appear her flames.

Ryora didn´t move as little fireballs originated on her left and right side and created a fire-dragon. It floated from one side to the other and didn´t let him out of his field of vision. She can´t be a fire manipulator. They can´t create something which looks like real. Interesting. Les´ eyes sparkled.

"Boss. The group of Grandon who intended to attack the village a few kilometres from the palace got killed. The errand boy said they had been slaughtered like animals. The full clearing was covered in blood. What should we do Boss?"
The so-called Boss stood up from his chair and looked with emotionless eyes into the ones of his underling. The underling gulped out of nervousness. Nobody was able to even guess what this person was thinking.

The leader looked away and starred out of the window and saw nothing but forest. They were in a small cottage, only trees around them. But that was ok. He didn´t need a luxurious life. He needed only a reason. A reason for something he didn´t know.

"We do nothing." His voice was also emotionless. "Grandon acted without my permission. If some warrior or warriors could defeat them easily it doesn´t concern me. You all chosed to make me your leader and if you don´t like how I handle things then you can leave and never come back."

The underling nodded and went out. The boss was scary, mysterious and tricky at the same time. But he wasn´t a typical bandit and that was the cause of the agitation in the other bandit members. Sometime this agitation would get out of control.

The fire dragon suddenly raced at him and Les turned and ran. He chanted a quick spell and suddenly massive hands, made of earth shot out and grabbed the dragon tightly.

Suddenly the ground under Ryora turned to mud, sucking her her. She fell and got trapped in, only her head showing from above the ground.

Les grinned confident of victory. "Didn´t you say you were stronger than me? Or do I imagine things that I defeated you?" He looked down at her and heard sobbing noises. Without taking notice of the fire dragon which rested silent in the palms of the earth hands he walked to the buried body of Ryora. "Don´t cry Miss Bodyless. You overestimated yourself. That happens much people."

Suddenly Les realised that Ryora wasn´t sobbing like he thought, she was laughing. But it was already to late for him to escape. He felt that something was going on under the earth and stumbled back.
The ground around Ryora got red and then collapsed of the heat she created. Not harming her body. Slowly she moved toward Les, a crazed look on her face. It seemed as if the Ryora he knew wasn´t there anymore. As if she could kill him and had no regrets afterwards. However, it vanished in seconds so Les didn´t know if his eyesight had betrayed him for a moment.

When he looked at her again she pointed behind his shoulder and he turned his face.
Gazing hungry at his back, floated the fire dragon, waiting for Ryoras command. Lying on the grond of the clearing were his once created earth hands fused together. Even though he had been on his guard the whole time he hadn´t realized the dragon taking action.

"I´ll let the Haven´t I told you?, sentence be. I think we both know who won." Ryora took her katanas and as she left the clearing Les dropped to his knees.

"I was right in thinking she isn't to be taken lightly." He got up with a groan, rubbing his back.
"What an interesting woman." He said softly, watching her turn the corner and disappear out of sight, "I want to know more about her..." With a grin, he took off after her.

Charles Westmoreland was a day's ride away from the Kingdom of Westmoreland. "How I have craved for a sight of thee..." He said silkily as he looked down at the valley from high above the mountains he was crossing.
With an evil smile, he took off down the narrow path, heading for his former home.
