This could definitely happen, but we'll have to wait until there's word on this situation to actually know what's going to happen with ANN's simulcasts. It could stay with ANN but it may not. I am going to take a back seat on speculating anyway.

Latest word leaking out is from one of the three freelancers working on the project, who confirms that they have all lost the gig because there's no work to be done at the moment. So they've definitely been pulled from ANN for the time being.
Crunchyroll could be a real White Knight here.

I changed my Gundam OO to finished status on Watchlist. I guess I missed 25 new Eps total. That's a great suprise. I really missed Gundam OO. Super Robot Wars OG is a close 2nd of top Mecha anime on CR.  |

Wonder if CR is ever gonna be a good website though.
Currently, everyone can easily just go to one of the many subbers ripping CR shows and putting them up for download for free.
So you get the episode for free, the same time as anime membership would get it, and you can actually download it.
Problem is, if CR makes all the shows free, they'll probably die out because ad revenue will most likely not be enough, unless they have a large number of ads, which users wouldn't like.
But at the same time, if CR keeps doing what they're doing, people will still just download from the rippers.
tl;dr
CR sucks, no hope in sight.
Less ripoff memberships, more downloadable free anime.
