Somehow I find rude people interesting.
It's fun making them look stupid and annoy the shit out of them.

Rude people, the lowest common denominator and the most obvious symptom of a society too sick to survive...
Either that or people by and large are just C**nts...

Rude can mean anything, varying from person to person, but to me it's all about the person not keeping a promise or just plain old doesn't care about anyone but themselves only, that's rude to me.

does this make sense to anyone else?

There is asshole rude and being rude for being rude.

There is also rude in a hilarious way to pwn others, this would be my favourite form of rude.

Frankly I don't give a damn. I know I've heard that line from somewhere.

Nonchalant is the way to go, they really want your attention and that's it.

Define rude.

There are those who will ignore simple matters of etiquette that irritate me to no end. Simple things like saying "thank you" when someone holds a door for you requires so little effort that it is almost more effort not to do it. Some people cut in line. Some people will circle a parking lot for 20 minutes to take a closer parking space. Some people walk shoulder-to-should on the sidewalk and get so busy chatting that no one in a hurry can get by. Turing the ringer off on a cell phone during a meeting requires a single button press; by not doing it a rude person sends the message that he literally will not raise a finger for anyone else. That sort of rudeness pisses me off.

Now there are people who are generally abrasive in their personalities. I am one such person. I can be extremely blunt, even cutting in my remarks. People generally love me or hate me quickly after meeting me. I don't have a problem with such directness. Sometimes a harsh word now is the greater kindness later. Enabling bad behavior through excessive gentleness does no one any good. So in that regard, rudeness is not a bad thing.

You draw a very interesting contrast. I too find those willing to speak up for themselves (up, not out) and what they feel, regardless of how blunt it may be to be quality characters. I'm a very calm, and laid back person, non-violent and very empathetic of others but when the time calls for it I am also very willing to speak up.
