Ecchi/comedy style stuff. Studios have been pumping this shit out constantly. It feels like a good half of what is showing are all just the same show sometimes. Not to say a good Harem anime isn't possible: Bakemonogatari is a fine example of a show in the Genre that has amazing animation, art, and characters. Then again, it's based off of a light novel series. One of my favorites.

I dislike Loli/Shota stuff when it's used as a ploy. I'd much prefer developed characters over bait anyday.

Basically, if I feel like I can predict what is going to happen in an Anime, it bothers me. Typical 5man band stuff, where there is a Snappy-But-Fiery protag, A Tsundere Girlbro, a Shy Love interest, and a Bro That Betrays You Eventually piss me off. It seems like a lot of shows are following this pathway, but are getting a bit better at avoiding the abuse of these tropes. Ao No Exorcist is a good example. Good animation and character development, despite it being pretty much the same show as every other 'Male Protag finds out he has powers' anime. I still dropped it however.

Another thing I hate in anime are cheap laughs. Just as the character is about to do something tense... someone makes a joke. Something funny happens. There is a 'Gag' character. I feel like it's hard to create atmosphere when stuff exists purely to make sure the audience is happy 100% of the time.

On a whole, Animation just needs to get better production value. Stuff like Cardfight Vanguard and Hetalia have poor animation, but could probably have had more funding in an attempt to make the animation smoother.

Maybe I'm jaded but I just want my anime to be more serious and to explore more serious concepts? I was spoiled by Kaiba and Mushi-Shi, I guess, though, that nothing can be as beautiful as Bakemonogatari, as sad as AnoHana, or as Complex as Kaiba. But it wouldn't hurt to improve the writing I suppose. Look at Madoka Magica. It has some of the best writing anime has seen in a long, long time, and it still exists in the, albeit quite twisted, Magical Girl genre.

Anime just needs to take itself more seriously.

It was an old thread anyway.

1. End of the world
2. Characters that are only there for fan service and have no significances to the plot but being there.
3. The extremely ditsy and annoyingly clumsy female.
4. The cold distant character.
5. The irritating talking animal.
6. Characters who you thought died but somehow came back to life.
7. Flashbacks!
8. Harems
9. Making long speeches in the middle of a huge battle when they should be fighting.
10. Overly exaggerated, against the laws of human physics, breasted characters.
11. Gaining an enormous amount of power at the last possible moment of having your ass handed to you.
12. The sweat drop.
13. A strange humanoid creature that either falls from the sky, has lost their memory or is found in suspended animation and eventually ends up living in your home with usually disastrous consequences.
14. For some reason teenagers are always the only ones left to defend the world.
15. Girls seem to always be attracted to the spineless, geeky, character with no backbone.

LOL. You just described Tokyo Mew Mew. Every single one of those applies, except maybe the flashbacks. And I guess their boobs aren't ridiculous balloons. But other than that, it's spot-on.

Well....if you think about it. The genres of anime have become saturated to a point where, there's no choice but to rehash old genres.

I agree on every single one. Except the sweat drop. If it's used once. But it's so distracting.

These are really good posts. Now I don't necessarily have a problem with this one, but it is something I've seen in quite a few animes.
lol I think an appropriate name would be "Trapped" because the girl (or in some cases, the uke) acts as if she cannot escape the boy's arm. It seems to happen in a lot of yaoi/shounen-ai anime and shoujo anime as well.

anime that doesn't follow the manga.

- Black Cat
- NARUTO, so it's brother; Shippuden, kicks in to continue the manga.

- WHISTLE!

Doesn't really tell that Shige has betrayed Sho's team and Mizuno's hate towards his decision.

Long battles where one character is stabbed and falls to the ground, then with willpower they become stronger while there wounds seemingly disappear AND THEY START THE WHOLE DAMN BATTLE OVER AGAIN. Along the same lined I fucking hate when they have multiple forms. What the hell has to go through these anime characters brains.. "Shall we fight in our weakest state and gradually change forms throughout the battle?" - enemy "Why yes lets fight for 2 episodes mwah mwah mwah" - Hero

AHAHAHAHHA bleach ticks all of those boxes!!! dont get me wrong, its my favorite-est anime, but it has so many cliches which im getting sick of, and the top one that i hate is BLOODY POINTLESS FILLERS THAT ARENT INTERESTING ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!! plus loads of crap battles, the only interesting ones these day are the fights between the main characters: ichigo, rukia, renji, etc. but even those are annoying sometimes. i wish there was LOADS of action and awesome moves, rather then talking for a million years and then at the end of it do one block attack and then start making another speech. i really hope they dont make the showdown between ichigo and ulqiorra and aizen vs ichigo as gay and irritating, otherwise it will be a MAJOR letdown!

Idiot Heroes
- Have no sense of direction
- When they are backed up against a wall, they say; "don't get me involved"

These are the people who need a good slap upside the head.

The following applies to school life:
-When people (mostly girls) are bullying someone, they steal their shoes and throw them in the trash or in some obscure location
"Ooh, I'm so bad I'm gonna steal your shoes"
Seriously?
Are the shoes really THAT valuable?
And why shoes?

The sweatdrop joke can be fantastic when you do new things with it.

In Slayers, Lina actually grabs the sweatdrop from above her head and starts beating Gourry with it.

School girls that have that childish attitude. This happens when the protagonist tells the girl (girl A or girl B who does not want to listen) the truth. And yet they don't want to accept it
- they get so mad and out comes "idiot, idiot, idiot" (pounding the protagonist's chest)

Protagonist who carries a huge weight on their shoulders. They don't want anybody, muchless their friends involved. They try to do the task by theemselves, but end up failing. And their friends think that they are disgusting snobs who think of themselves.
