Skeith (Gaelic for shadow) are the manifestations of the darkness in one's heart. Once a Skeith awakens, the host will mutate into a Skeith personifying their darkness. Skeiths can be awakened normally but the most common way to release a Skeith is to use a Skeith Seed. Skeith hosts can return to normal by either the host's will suppressing the Skeith or the Skeith being defeated.

There are seven levels of Skeith.
1. Berserkers (Little to no mutation)
2. Shades (low-ranking Skeith)
3. Daemons (low-ranking Skeith)
4. Daevils (medium-ranking Skeith)
5. Angaels (high-class Skeith)
6. Virtues (high-ranking Skeith brought forth from a Stigma
7. Kure-nai (nine high-ranking Skeith)
8. Oblivion (personification of darkness)

Virtues

Virtues are ranked fifth in terms of power. Virtues are Skeiths infused with the powers of the Stigmas. A Stigma user's Requiem Form is actually a Skeith. Unlike other hosts, Stigma Users are able to control their Skeith.

Weakness: Continual use of time manipulation will shorten the user's life. Manipulating time too much will attact the attention of Time and the Giorni.

Kure-nai

Kure-nai are a band of nine high-ranking Skeiths who came together to unite the Skeith. They believe that by destroying darkness, they can become gods of a new paradise. To do so, they attempt to convert all to darkness -as Skeith- in order to destroy all darkness at once. Though contradictous in nature by wanted to eliminate all Skeith, they command legions of Skeith to do their bidding. They also believe that by using the darkness of their own heart, they can master their existence thus ascend to a higher plain.

Info: Akiras take the form of a sword of a particular element (black is metal, purple is earth, blue is water, red is fire, and yellow is wind). Generally, Akiras will stick together in swarms of five, one for each element. However, they have been known to appear as magical swords, and will be wielded by swordsmen, increasing its own power and making the wielder suseptible to the Skeith manifestation.
