Yazan stayed in the inn that his family used during their travels. The inn was exclusive and only the "old money" were allowed there.
Even though most of Yazan's family fortune had been carelessly laundered away, the family name still commanded respect int eh community.
However, the lenders were becoming less subtle in the demands of their money back. It wouldn't be long before the Barak family name was rolled in the mud. Yazan shuddered at the thought then caressed the book lovingly. "When I find the lamp, all my troubles will be over."

"I'M TELLING YOU IT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS!" a high schooler screamed at a haughty looking classmate.

'Well, why shouldn't it? The batteries are obviously connected. The lamp will light up either way," the proud girl replied nonchalantly.

"THE ARRANGEMENT IS ALL WRONG! DAMN YOU BORAK! I HATE TO BE YOUR LAB PARTNER! I DON'T THINK ANYONE CAN STAND YOU!" the hysterical classmate screamed again. The class fell silent. Everyone was watching another day of Elysia VS The World Debate.

Elysia went "hmph!" and got up from her seat and turned the switch on. much to her lab partner's chagrin, the lamp did light up.

"It's called parallel circuit. Offers less resistance but brighter bulb. Not everything goes by the book," Elysia explained with a swish of her hand.

Her lab partner took it as sarcasm and ran out in tears. The rest of the class started whispering and they all didn't sound good. Elysia sighed. Must everything follow a certain order? The lunch bell rang and the class shuffled out in awkward silence. Even the teacher had a hard time managing after another episode of heated arguement over her mini class project.

Elysia wandered into the gardens. The rain had stopped. SHe closed her eyes and breathed. Her chi began flowing naturally again. Boiling emotions can make her chi go wild. I need more training...

"You have a nice keep here, young man," a smooth, deep voice boomed in the darkness.

Yazan stood up immediately.

"Who goes there?" he asked nervously.

"Nothing more than a lonely traveller." A dashing young man who looked no older tha Yazan stood in the dim light offered by a burning lamp. Yazan took a deep breath. How could a man look so handsome yet carry such devilish smile? Yazan took a step back into the shadows to hide his blushing face.

"No need to be afraid. I'm just looking for a place to stay for the night. a hundred guineas for one night, whaddaya say?" the man smirked.

Yazan stared at the man's hands. He never seen so much money before. He nodded fervently and made a grab for the coins but the man withdrew his hand.

"not until you show me that pretty book of yours. I am pretty into antiques you know."

Yazan's eyes narrowed suspiciously

Fire still sat at the entry of the cave when the dark clouds had disappeared. It was very unusual that there was just thunder and lightning but no rain. She knew that the weather in Myron was unpredictable and it went like it wanted, but that didn´t mean that all went as nature desired. Fire could write a book about it (correction: thousands of books).

Footsteps came from within the cave and Rose sat down beside her. "What are you thinking about? You are sitting here for an hour." Rose starred at the lake down the meadow. On the other hand Fire had the impression she looked through the environment like she always did.

"Thinking about a girl I know. An electrifying girl to say."

Elysia felt herself being watched. But by whom? The school bell rang again. ANother 3 hours to the glorious afterschool time... She dragged her feet back to class.

Everyone in class was quieter than usual but it was normal after such an episode. The teacher's lecture droned on and Elysia's mind wandered to the open field near her school. A spark ignited in her mind. I'm sure Daddy won't mind if I just....

"The book is not for sale." Yazan said peevishly, clutching the book to his chest.

The man chuckled, "I just want a look,"

"Well you can't. However I can list you as an acquaintance if you want to stay here the night. It's very exclusive," Yazan said smugly, "But they make allowances for their old customers."

Desert Rose looked at the shackles on wrists that looked like thick bracelets to a casual observer. The same shackles were on her ankles.

The wind blew and her hair blew back but she could scarcely feel it, she was nothing but a shadow in the real world, not until she was set free.

But her master was gone and she was alone, she did not know where her lamp was or how to get to it.
Hopes of someone finding it and setting her free were not even worth thinking.

"You hungry?' Fire asked as she cooked a rabbit on a stick.

"I do not eat." Rose said , a small smile appearing on her face when she saw Fire's incredulous look. Humans were so delightful.
Well someone of them. She had met many evil, greedy humans.

Despite Yazan's onvious attempt to trick his first customer, the young man's strange grin only broadened.

"have you ever tried selling that book? You looked like the kind desperate for money. Take it from a traveller like me, that book fetches nothing but more poverty. I have no more interest in you and I will take my business as well. Good night."

and the traveller left the miserable lounge.

Yazan bit his lips. There goes his income.

Elysia skipped her afterschool class duty and ran back to her dorm to pack her travel bags. Then, she set off for a few days outside school. Crackling with excited laughter, lightning in her hands began dancing as she sneaked out of school, into the busy streets of the town

"Ok, this ruin was a great success! One step further to my goal. And one step ahead to avoid a suicide mission from Fire." The last senctence was mumbled.
Shin crawled out of the opening to the ancient ruins; in his bagpack informations about the thing he was searching for. The next point to travell to was, finding an Inn and collecting the most important informations out of the pages and stone pieces.

Yazan scowled, "wait till i get the lamp. You'll all be eating dust trying to get on my good side."

he looked at the book, it was a little hard to make out, the diagrams were hard to decipher and most of the important bits were in riddle.
"Geeze, my great grand father was a loon." he grumbled.

Dubglas stood outside the house and leaned close to the door. Hearing Yazan's grumble, he grinned.

Only a matter of time before he turns to me for help in deciphering that riddle...

He strolled away into the night, choosing a more hospitable place to stay for the night, careful to leave tracks from Yazan's house.

"A trip?" Elysia's mother asked curiously.

"Yeah, I was thinking of meeting stronger people out there. You know, to train up?" Elysia replied over the phone.

"Your father will be worried. But if it's to strenghthen your wisdom and character, you have our support. just tell us to wire the money whenever you need," Elysia's mother replied nonchalantly. "By the way, we won't be home for the next three weeks so i will wire some now."

"Not at home? Another match?" Elysia asked, her excited tone dying down.

"That's right. Oh someone's at the door. See you later, sweetheart!" her mother spoke quickly and the line went dead.

"See you later...Mom...." Elysia said to the dead line. Taking deep breaths, she look up to the sky, her eternal rival. Then, she forced a smile. This isn't the first time I can't go home...... I will be fine......as always......

Turning to the inviting lights of the rising sun, she picked up her bags ans strolled towards the capital. Someday, I will meet someone interesting enough to make me stop thinking about home......
