-Onikakushi-Hen (Spirited away by the demon Chapter) The first question arc:
You have to download it using IRC. If you don't know what that is then PM me and I will explain it to you. Here is the website: http://eternalbunnylove.com/ Which hosts the files. They have 6/6 chapters. This arc is complete.

There's still an epilogue they need to do...

Ok i see it. Uhmmm which mannga should be read first?

You don't really have to go any real order, but basically:

-Onikakushi
-Watanagashi
-Tatarigoroshi
-Himatsubushi

Then:

-Meakashi (RAW)
-Tsumihoroboshi (RAW)

And these you can read any time, as they are side stories:

-Onisarashi
-Yoigoshi
-Utsutsukowashi
-Katautsushi-Hen

Then there is a whole bunch of really good, non-H doujins. Then:

So, you want to know about Higurashi Matsuri?

Higu Matsuri is a PS2 game (only released in Japan). It features arcs that you can't see anywhere else, and it inclused the "True End", Miotsukushi, not to be confused with Matsuribyashi, the "Good End". There are basically three kinds of ends, and this criteria applies to alot of games.

Bad End: In a dating sim or something where you choose what the character does, if you get a Bad End, it usually means you screwed up big time -_-.... And that some dies/ kills themselves/ All the girls in the game hate you and you'll never have a girlfriend as long as you live... That kind of thing. In terms of Higurashi, "Bad End" means Rika is watanagashi'ed, or killed by some other means.

Good End: This means that you get the girl you wanted, no ones dies, bad guy turns good or is caught, something like that. In Higurashi, it means none of the main characters die, as in Matsuribyashi. But the "Good End" is uaully just that, a feel-good sunshine and rainbows ending with not much depth, and a largely improbably victory.

True End: This is the ending which should be considered cannon. It is usually a deeper, and possibly darker, more meaningful ending, where the main goal is achived, but there is a price to pay. In the true and of Higurashi, the price to pay is:

As for Matsuri itself, you can read a bit about it in the Wiki article, but if you want a really indepth look, I sugest you read this (I think some where in there is a link to the scene in Matsuri where Ouka kills Hanyuu in the past. It's definatly worth a watch since it's only vaugely touched on in the PC game, and not mentioned at in the anime): http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=43671

Here are some videos of scenes in the Matsuri game: http://www.crunchyroll.com/series-7147/Higurashi-no-Naku-Koro-ni-Matsuri.html

So you want to Play Matsuri?

Ok, first off, you need a PS2 XD (Duh!)

Next, you need a way for your PS2 to play Japanese games. This is one of those situations where there is an easy way and a hard way, so I will explain the easy way. You need to buy a small device commonly reffered to as a "Magic Slide". You can buy one at a con easily, or order one. Then, take it home and turn your PS2 on, and press the button so that the tray comes out (and take out any disks you might already have in there.) Next, you know that bar at the end of the tray with the Sony logo?:

Break it off. You heard me, break it off! Don't worry, it comes off rather easily, just make sure you don't break the whole tray off, cuz that would really suck XD. Now, you stick the side under the tray and move untill you hear a click. Well.... the slide should come with instructions, so, it will tell you exactly how to move it. Now, just stick your Japanese game in and play, it might take a few tries for it to work correctly though, so don't start crying if it doesn't work after the first try XD. Now then, your going to have to repeat this process every time you want to play a Japanese game.

Next, you're going to need to buy a copy of Matsuri and/or the expansion Kakera Aosobi. Just slap that disk in and you're ready to go!

How much Japanese do you need to know?

-Well, *drumroll please* Matsuri comes with complete voice overs so you don't have to die from KFS (Kanji Frustration Syndrome). The characters speak in Japanese, and there are Subtitles in (no furinagana) Kanji. So basically, you have to be able to:

Speak Japanese: Yes
Be a Kanji Genius: No
Be able to read Kana: Well, that would probably help you XD

Don't freak out though, even if you're not fluent in Japanese it's ok. Just take this test: Watch a RAW of an anime episode and if you understand enough to be able to tell what's going on (even if you don't recognize every word) you should be a-ok!

^ It's not completely voiced. Also I don't know if the "Magic Slide" would work with it because it only works with Japanese/Asian PS2s. I think the PS2 only arcs are going to be put in one of the DS games of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kizuna. You can play that on any DS because it's region-free unlike Matsuri...

Nope, I have used a Magic slide on my PS2 and personally played Japanese games on it, so the slide does work. Also, it's mostly voiced at least. Also, I was going to do a section on Kizuna tomarrow, but yes, you can play Japanese DS games on american DSs.

Matsuri Update

Ok.... due to some.... complications... involving a village idiot type person (don't ask, I'm too mad about it!! ) Even though I was suppoused to have Matsuri in my possesion last Saturday, I probably won't have untill Friday of this week at the earliest. In anycase, Before I reffered to the thing you need to play it as a "Magic Slide". My bad, it's actually called "Swap Magic". Here is the website with demo vids: http://www.swapmagic3.com/

Well, at least I'm able to get it at all, and I'm grateful for that ^___^. Also, if people who are trying to order Matusri are confused by the fact that there are 3 differnt versions, let me break it down for you:

1. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Matsuri: Original Game.

2. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kakera Aosobi Append. Version (Picture of Rena on the Cover): The expansion pack, but in order for it to work, you need a copy of the orginal Matsuri ^.

3. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kakera Aosobi (Picture of Rika and Hanyuu on the box): Original Game + Expansion together, therefore, you only need to buy this one thing.

So basically option 3 is the smartest thing. You can get it for about $ 60-70 + Shipping. But trust me, WITH OUT SWAP MAGIC IT IS USELESS. ALSO, YOU HAVE TO HAVE NEWEST VERSION OF SWAP MAGIC. You can get swap magic for about $20-30 + Shipping.
