Majority of anime is based on the manga.

I, personally, prefer reading the manga because I feel more connected to the characters.
Plus, while I am reading, I can choose songs that best fits the mood.

what's the point of manga huh?
me personally, I prefer Manga than anime... manga is more advance and MOST of the manga has better plots than the anime... have u ever tried reading manga once and watching it's anime counterpart? I have and imo, the manga is way better than the anime. and MOST of the animes were from manga. they just animate those manga...

why not change the question in to: what's up with anime, it has lots of fillers that wud only waste ur time.. almost 1/4 (I guess) of the naruto series were just fillers, time consuming..

that's just the other way around....

Both are their own art form and sometimes things come across better in the manga then they do in the anime.

Take Hikaru no Go. There is a scene early in the series where the main character talks about how playing Go feels like creating the universe.
The imagery used for this in the manga is stunning and powerful but in the Anime it felt kind of flat.

Sometimes a still picture tells it better.
other times motion best captures the moment.

neither is better or worse than the other, they just tell the story in different ways.

personally though I do enjoy curling up with a good manga or book when I'm relaxing instead of a tv

most anime's are from mangas

And i like reading mangas cause you can listen to music while you read, and reading is good , plus its way faster and i hate waiting for an episode to load -.-, but animes rock too , but i prefer Mangas, ;D , and fillers are annoying especially in animes like Naruto =_=

Not only a manga skips the filler, but it has its true form, you'll get so much more details based on the storyline within the manga than most of the anime out there, of course there's always a few exceptions and we can't go on generalizing, but in general if I had to chose a manga over an anime I'd gladly do so.

Original stories

Much anime is based on manga. If you want the story in its original form, you need to go to the manga. (There are, of course, original animes, as well as animes from light novels, video games, and other sources, but manga is the largest origin for anime.)
