Please fix the horrednous video quality issues on the Iphone app. I have yet to watch a single video that didn't greatly degrade in video quality within minutes of watching. With the new subs it makes it impossible to read, and the only fix is to restart the app several times per episode. This has been a problem for me for months, and I've seen several posts addressing it. I would think it would be a big enough issue that it would be fixed by now. I thoroughly enjoy the app outside of this issue, but it's incredibly frustrating to say the least. If I wanted poor quality I would surf youtube.

Hi, are you watching on 3G? Depends on your 3G connection speed, iOS will switch between different quality streams. Do you have any information on your connection speed? If not, could you try downloading the speedtest app (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speedtest-net-mobile-speed/id300704847?mt=8) and let us know what kind of results you get?

Is there anything else to get this to work? The only reason I went premium is for this feature

Hi, which version of iOS are you running on your iPod? I can try to help, but it's an experimental feature that needs to be worked on more.

See this thread for reference:

In the last 4 days or so I haven't been able to watch videos on the iPad app. Uninstall/reinstall doesn't work and I've tried watching videos on wifi and mifi/3G with the same result - no video or audio.

1) Device type - iPad 3G
2) OS version - 4.2.1 (8C148)
3) App version - 1.10
4) Problem - Crunchyroll splash screen appears, video goes fullscreen and turns black, no video or audio start, screen stays black no controls appear no video plays. App must be quit with Home key.
5) Steps to reproduce - Open app start a video from Browse area or History. The rest of the app functions as it should.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

Are you still having this problem?

Yes, I was able to watch Episode 32 of Tegami Bachi but after that the app broke again. I've been on the Hulu forums and people have been experiencing buffering issues (as I have with the CR app when it worked) and a similar black screen no video issue.

I've tried the CR app on secure and open networks with the same result. I've also tried the app during peak and off-peak times with no improvement.

On another side note, the Netflix and ABC apps stream video fine so I don't think it's a network or hardware issue.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I'm still having issues. Tried watching bleach 10 and it stopped at 30 secs. Hit play twice (pause& unpause) played 15 secs. I personally think the app doesn't cache enough and runs out, but that is pure speculation.

Edit:
Tried reboot and not hitting play twice. 15secs in and 35 sec in it stops. After killing app for play audio only for about 20 secs.

Definitely have some speed issues with the app for sure. I just got a new ipod touch and with my old ipod i would be able to load the videos and it would buffer about 1/3 of the video within a few min. I have tried a few shows and have had the shows paused for well over 5 min and the status bar for the show showing how far the buffer is for the stream after about a 1 1/2 min. the show freezes! I am also getting a lot of green artifacts and even full green screen once in a while when i can watch the stream on my ipod. Just to note that Episode 2 of Gosick on my ipod was having this problem.

I did this from my iPod so my speeds are more then fast enough. I really hope this gets fixed soon.

update: ok i just checked out an older show. Galaxy Express 999 and it streaming perfectly fine now. I'm going to check a newer show and check and see if the probelm is newer shows.

Another Update: seems to just be newer shows that have the problem as stated before, but I get about a few min into a show and the video just stutter and constantly pausing. So I really have no idea what is going on anymore.

iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3GS over 802.11n WPA2 network on a 7 megabits per second DSL connection.

Well it seems like the app is working fine again. This seems to just happen randomly for me and for no reason. I would think later at night the stream would work better or there were issues that finally got fixed now. For whatever reason now everything is good again, till it stops working again...

1) Device Type - MC496LL 32GB 3G iPad
2) OS Version - 4.2.1 (8C148)
3) App Version - 1.10
4) Detailed Description - Sometimes videos play for a few seconds, then freeze. My router shows constant network activity at the time, but the videos do not resume. Restarting the iPad or reinstalling Crunchyroll allows starting the video over again, but once more it freezes. Sometimes the player goes completely black, when the iPad wireless meter, clock, and battery level are still visible, but there are no controls available for Crunchyroll.
5) Steps to reproduce the problem - Play a video.

Same for me! As an update to my earlier problem with the Code Geass episodes they are now working fine. It's extremely strange albeit I'm happy.

Should have checked in way sooner. I'd been having buffer problems, and they seem to be largely fixed, though not completely. Kore-wa Zombie Desuka 2 only paused three times, and Dragon Crisis 2 only stopped one time. That was last night, so I'll have to try again tonight.

Reason I came back, really, is because Bleach 305 is telling me I need to be an anime member to watch it. I'm logged in and I am indeed an anime member. I've had this problem in the past, though it was long enough ago that I don't remember the details. Re-logging in doesn't work. I'm going to try a reboot and a reinstall, but I'm not optomistic.

Though that might be because I'm rather a bit pessimistic.

EDIT: Nope, neither fixed it. Tried watching Occult Academy 2, since I wanted to watch something, and that spent three minutes buffering the first minute of intro, overall. So, neither problem fixed.

1) iPhone 4
2) 4.2.1
3) Latest
4) Episodes of Shugo Chara from 40 to about 48 have a screen at the start about production information. They also have audio sync issues (maybe because of the production details) and aspect ratio issues.
5) Watch an episode from on an ios device. I'm watching from Australia if that makes a difference.

BasouKazuma mentioned this in another post. This should explain the reason why.

If everything goes well, there should only be a 3 hour delay at most between when it's released on the site and when it's released on our various apps. This particular episode of Bleach seems to have had some problems. Everything but the iOS encodes processed properly. So I'll try to encode those right now but, if it fails, it could take another day before it's fixed.

Yeah, I tried that along with all the common fixes for all general app problems. As of this message the app still isn't working. I'm going to try reinstalling it from iTunes when I get home.

FYI: Uninstall from iPad and iTunes and then reinstall from App store to iTunes to iPad worked.

Finally able to use the app again, thanks.

PS: Received "General API error" message upon app start up but I didn't experience any problems.
