Do you share your connection? Is there heavier network usage in your household at night?

no, only other computer running has very limited network usage, for download bandwith, virtually nothing.

usually, when it stops, it goes for some time using high resolution and then stops again. Sometimes it manages to continue longer periods, but quality of video downloaded/shown doesn't seem to affect to it.

also it looks like that past midnight (utc+3) it gets better, now (2.00) I dont get any strange pausing.

I'm not sure if desktop version has similar problems or if it just flash which makes 1080p video go haywire sometimes, I rarely watch crunchyroll from desktop anyway. 720p version works about always. (my desktop is running linux so for that it may well be flash related problems)

If you can keep an eye on times when it seems to happens and then give me that information that'd be great.

Will do.

Initially, it’s around midnight (00:00), but I’ll throw more exact times next time I spot this.

I had no idea the iOS app was limited to 480p. Looked better than expected on my iPad w/ retina. Kinda thought it was 720p. Cool!

Not one video from any series will play above the absolute minimum quality available on my iPad, but I can get HD all day long through the Roku channel. iPod Touch has the same pixellated garbage, but it looks slightly less bad because it's a smaller display with higher pixel density. Subs can't be read on either device.

This is not 480p. This is YouTube from seven years ago. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is not a bandwidth issue, as demonstrated by both the Roku channel and Google Chrome.
This is not an account issue. Logout, reinstall, and reboot all do nothing. See previous statement.
All I can come up with is that the iOS app is just limited to the point of being unwatchable, but that can't be right.

How are you trying to watch on your iOS device? Are you trying to watch via the website or on the App?

Roku does not stream above 480p.

An iPad cannot play videos on the website. The only option is to use the app.

Watching on the Roku channel gives me quality as good as a DVD, provided traffic is not excessive. I was trying to make a point.

Found a random video on YouTube with a 144p setting. It looks significantly cleaner.

If it's absolutely necessary, I can take a screenshot of pixellated CR in action.

Okay, great! You got me!
You're right, you can not watch on the website on your iOS device.

The quality of the feed you get is going to depend on your connection.
The iOS device makes use of Apple's Adaptive Streaming Technology.
In order to maintain a stream, the quality of it is going to adjust based on the strength of your connection.

If you want, you can run a few tests for me.

I'm well aware of what the lowest quality image is available on iOS.

(We're looking into ways to maintain a certain resolution rather than have the app use Adaptive Streaming Tech. No timeline on when this would be included.)

For some random reason, when i try to watch anime on my ipad. It never is in fully enlarged, its only like the middle of the screen and the rest is black bars. And the animemepisodes are new weekly episodes like naruto, hunter,x hunter, e.t.c. Also there seems to be a problem with turning the video resolutions to hd

Given that CR only provides up to 480p streams for the iOS app that much is understandable.

As for your other problem, can you take a screenshot of what you are seeing and post it?

I assume you are referring to something other than the normal black bars that would appear above and below the picture due to the iPad's screen not being 16:9.

I've been having an issue recently with the iPad app...I get the attached error. If the app is still running on my iPhone I'm ok, but if I log off my account, I get the same error message. Last time this happened, I was able to access again after 24h and a re-instal. Is anyone else getting this issue?

I'm on wifi at home and have never had an issue like this prior to about 2 weeks ago. I've got the latest versions of the app and device software installed. Note: I can't even get back to a login screen when this happens.

Does a fresh uninstall and reinstall resolve the problem?

I am having trouble with my app on the play station 3. Who should I contact to get repairs? The app turns off by itself when changing episodes. Also the videos tend to slow down while the audio keeps going shifting the movie and dialogue
