An easier method is to just go to the CR website with your iPad's browser. You can access your queue there and even launch the videos directly from the website as well.


I think the iPad app's UI needs some improving which is why I go through the website to find a video instead of going through the app as it is much easier and faster to do so.

Will the issue of the video restarting from the beginning ever be fixed?

It's rather annoying that you haven't been able to pause playback without hitting this issue for an entire year.

Yeah no kidding. I haven't seen any updates to the iOS app since... well since I've been a member which was from about a year ago. I can only assume most of their customers don't use iOS devices.

Before asking my question, I MUST point this out:
I have about 350 apps on my computer that use between my iPad and iPhone4.
Of those....in the last few months I have downloaded at least 200 updates for these apps.
(60 of those just in the last two weeks)
Yet, NONE of them have been for the CrunchyRoll iOS app.

So, having said that.....I MUST ask this:
Are there ANY plans for an update to the UI for the iOS app after the release of iOS6?

(PLEASE give an old man something to live for....I don't have much time left!)

So I don't watch a whole lot of videos on the CR app (since I've often had problems with it crashing, restarting, etc.) so I don't know if this is an old problem. But there was one weird thing I noticed recently.


If I want to play a particular episode, there are 2 things I can do:
1) Go to the anime list, find the show by season, then from the list of episodes for the show, I can click on the one I want to watch.
or,
2) Use the search feature

If after watching, say, ep 15 I decide to watch ep 25, I exit fullscreen.

If I originally found ep 15 by doing 1), I can get to the show page by either clicking the button at the top with the series name, OR scrolling down to where it says series name and click that. Then from the list of eps I can find ep 25 and play it.

BUT, if I found ep 15 by doing 2), then the only way I can get to the series page is by scrolling down to find the series name. Now here's the problem. If I now try to open 25, or any episode from the list, none will open. You click on any of the episodes, and nothing happens.

So if you get to the series page using path 2), you can't play any of the episodes listed there.


I am using iPhone 3GS, OS version 5.0, and have the latest CR app version. I just now uninstalled/reinstalled it, and it's still happening.


Oh yeah, and every time I get a crash, I go to the app store on my phone to see if there's a new update for it. But I haven't seen one in a long time.

I've been a member for several years now and watch on my android phone, my first gen iPad and my lap top. Until lately I haven't had a problem with any of the apps for ios, but lately sense I updated my os from 3.4 to the most recent iOS I've been having the famous restart problem. When I updated my iOS because it was such a big update I had to delete all my apps and reinstall so I know I'm working with the latest of all my apps and always update them when ever updates are available. I see from the forum that I am not the only one with this problem. I pose this question to you, why should I pay for a membership for a something I can't use every where they say I can. I know the membership price isn't that much but really why would I pay for it if I can't watch on my iPad and I am stuck on the tiny screen of my epic when ever I am not home? That being said, I do love this site and it is great on android and computer and I see it is on Sony network now, but you cannot forget about your iOS users too. I noticed today that the app rating has dropped to a three stars, I was shocked, I had never seen it below four and a half before. Please fix this soon. Thanks, Amhra

Well, I can tell this is a known issue, but you know what? I'm just going to report it and go to bed.

1) Device type - iPad 2
2) OS version - iOS 5.1.1
3) App version - 1.14
4) Detailed description of the problem. Screenshots, error messages, anything weird you see, etc.

I have one major problem with this app and it happens consistently - if I try to watch more than one episode of anything, I get the video reset and have to restart the app to "fix" the episode.

Midway through the episode, at any time the video suddenly starts playing the episode over again - but the timestamp stays the same. So I could be 15 minutes into the episode and suddenly it starts playing the intro, but the video time bar is still at 15 minutes and it'll keep going seemingly "past" the end marker. It also won't let me go back before the 15 minute mark. When this happens, the only way I can fix it is by shutting down the app and restarting again to watch the end of the episode properly.


5) Steps to reproduce the problem:
Open Crunchyroll app. Watch two episodes in succession. Profit. (Or not, in this case.) They don't even have to be in the same series.

I've already removed and reinstalled the app on my iPad. No luck.

Seriously, I got a paid membership again because of being able to watch episodes on my iPad, but if this keeps up I might just revert again. Sure, I really like the first Durarara!! opening, but not that much that I want to see it kick in again in the middle of a scene...

The newest build is going through the approval process now.


Edit: Not giving any dates or anything because Apple is very stringent in their approval process. It could be released soon or they could nit pick for awhile until they're happy with what we've got.

It really depends, it can be a lot longer if Apple deems an app is providing a competing service. (Just look at Onlive as an example, google it if you don't know what I am talking about)

The reason the CR iOS app may not have been updated in over a year could be because the update kept being rejected and CR keeps having to make changes. The CR app wouldn't be the first to run into this kind of problem.

If they'd had an update ready months and months ago but were having problems getting it approved I would think there would be a post explaining the delay. Right?
