meron naman sanang magandang maidudulot kaya lang...

there is a bloody f***ing culture of violence lalo na sa UP! sh*t!!!

i hate to really admit it cos i study in UP and my closest guy friends in there are frat members! ilang beses na nila ako pinaiyak sa pag-aalala...

it also has a sort of *macho culture* na akala mo naman it would make them less of a man kung hndi sumali. some lng naman ganun but i have to admit they also have a lot of projects to benefit the community. sa soro ganun din but i dnt care... minsan kc puro kalandian alam nila. i dnt wanna generalize but... err... nvm.

sa UP halos lahat ng organizations merong mga initiations. i had three orgs and i can say that sobrang hirap ng pinagdaanan ko (almost close to hazing ) but it promotes loyalty and trust and hndi ako napasama. iba kc sa frats. they are in the extremes! hazing they say ensures loyalty to their soon-to-be-brods --- loyalty that transcends politics, ideologies and even religion w/c i think is very wrong.

kwento lang... sa tambayan namin in one of my orgs... ung isang orgmate ko member ng tooooot... nag-uusap kami about a project when a red car with 3 hooded men may dalang tubo!! approached our tambayan... yung orgm8 ko na fratman sensed danger so tumakbo sya... naghabulan sila and nadapa ung orgm8 ko (parang pelikula) so yun! grabe how ironic cos sa tapat pa ng college of law sya tinubo. pagkakita namin syet blooooooooody andaming mga cuts... sobrang scary. very traumatic on our part.

kahit isa samin wlang nakaalam ng reason kung bakit sya sinaktan. marami na ring ganitong nangyari pero bakit kahit halos mamatay na sila how can they still keep their mouth shut? for a lot of reasons but definitely one of them is....

power.

many movers and shakers, on and off campus, are fratmen. ung sa skul lng namin bbnggitin ko ha... 9 senators are fraternity or sorority members from UP (villar, honasan, arroyo, pangilinan, gordon, escudero, angara, ponce-enrile and pia cayetano). even the chief justice of the supreme court is a UP fratman! resident members go to alumni *brods* for connections when they need financial assistance or access to the powerful. kaya naman they have an assurance that that they will not be let down especially in times of trouble.

this is what happened to cris mendez and to all the victims of fraternity violence. kahit isa... wala akong alam na naconvict. althought our school has been exerting its best to address the problem, unfortunately, there are stronger forces outside.

we are in a very pitiful state.

Jaderoselle, i have a question for you. sa tingin mo tama ba ang hazing para masabing may tiwala sayo ang isang tao na sasali?

after watching and hearing news of the hazing victims i dont think fraternity and sororety are one of the best group to rely on when it comes to personal troubles

REMEMBER THE SOULS WHO LOST THEIR CHANCE TO LIVE A NORMAL AND HAPPY LIFE BECAUSE OF THE SAME REASON THAT HAPPENS EVERY YEAR, WAG NYU NANG HINTAYIN NA MANGYARI PA SA INYO ANG GANUN BAGO NYU PA PAG ISIPANG MAG SISI KUNG KELAN WALA NA KAYUNG BUHAY

in reality di lang ang mga nababalitaan sa TV, radio or dyaryo na mga namamatay dahil sa pag sali sa mga maling group or organization, but according to my friends who studies in UP. every month may namamatay dahil sa hazing or related violence na may connection sa fraternity/sororety sa buong bansa di lang nababalita (IM NOT LYING) every MONTH!.

i know fraternity/sororety is made because of the reason of brotherhood/sisterhood (WALANG IWANAN) .

FACE THE REALITY!

fraternities and sororities are most commonly known as social organizations for higher education or secondary students.they generally consist of two or three Greek letters, often abbreviating a Greek motto. For this reason, fraternities and sororities are known collectively as a Greek System or Greek Society and its members as Greeks. The most recognizable form of fraternity is the social fraternity, which present themselves as societies to help their members better themselves in a social setting.Unique among most campus organizations, members of social fraternities and sororities often live together in a large house or apartment complex. This can help emphasize the "bonds of brotherhood (or sisterhood)" and provide a place of meeting for the members of the organization as well as alumni. For reasons of cost, liability, and stability, housing is usually owned or overseen by an alumni corporation or the national headquarters of the fraternity or sorority. As a result, some houses have visitor restrictions, and some national organizations restrict or prohibit alcohol on the premises.

this is exactly true on the university i go to...since it's supposedly only available on higher education, i never truly encountered what most of u guys saying mostly negative about it.hazing is no longer a problem since it's been banned.Hazing began to be officially banned at the national and international levels of fraternities and sororities, is against many colleges' Greek Codes, and is illegal in most U.S. states.Hazing can result in the revocation of the local chapter's charter, and expulsion of members from the national organization or university.

what i'm saying is, where im at, it's all good.

Fraternities started out with good intentions...there is one frat that i respect 'cos i can see the good it does for their members...

most frats now, kahit sino nalang pwedeng sumali...like what the above person said...kahit out of school youths....tapos mag ru-rumble sa kabilang kanto..mag ha-hazing....doing more harm than good...
i think they shouldn't be called fraternities...they're more like gangs....and they are bad influences...i know a lot of "frats" aka "gangs" in our school and place....some of my friends are members..and i saw what it did to them..so i know what i'm talking about...

anyway,opinion lang po...

may mabuting maidudulot naman sana ang mga fraternities and sororities.. only if... nag a-abide sila sa sinumpaan nilang oath and sa batas tlga ng naturang org... but then.. we cant blame the founders kung bakit nababahiran ng kalokohan ang fraternities ngaun kasi most of the neophytes na sumasali sa isang fraternity ay gusto lng mapabilang sa "malakas na grupo" dahil lng sa may gusto silang resbakan... darn it!! tuloy ang malinis na hangarin ng naturang brotherhood nagiging parang gang na walang patutunguhan... some of the members are taking advantage of the words "walang iwanan" kaya lumalakas ang loob nilang gumawa ng kahangalan...every fraternity naman, sigurado ako, may magandang opportunity na maibibigay for each member.. nasa member nlang un kung panu nia panghahawakan un..

hndi lahat ng fraternities gumagamit ng dahas or ung "hirap o sarap" as a form of initiation...
