Umm...yay?

This is AWESOME!!! Now I'll be counting down the days till' March. I don't care how much it'll cost(there'll likely be a fee), I'll gladly pay it.

I wonder if Shuesha will include some of the manga not running in North America yet like Medaka Box or Enigma. That'd be cool, and an interesting way to gauge if they should be released here.

Also I wouldn't worry about those not in North America. I'm pretty sure they'll expand it over time if it does well enough.

They may expand it or just make a portal for the other areas of the world.

So far, there is no information as to what series will appear in this portal (as the publishers can't say anything, yet).

This has potential. But I'm gonna wait and see what happens. There's a lot of factors to consider...

* How much advertising?
* What will be free, and what will require payments/subscriptions?
* What will the content restrictions be? Will there be an age check for NSFW series?
* Will we see only series that are currently licensed?

I know that not long ago, Mangahelpers created a site called Open Manga (openmanga.org), which is intended to provide legal scans. But there hasn't been much news about it lately...

Viz has published some of its Ikki imprint chapters online, and just recently released a new notable series on iTunes for the iPad. So perhaps there will be more translated material sold through that service.

Viz also has its Shonen Sunday stuff online (and free, like it's IKKI stuff).
