Mmm... I doubt this is the right section, but I figured I'd ask anyway:

I've never watched Dramas or anything before, but I wanted to know if their were any based on The romance of the three kingdoms, or the other great Chinese novels, or based on Sengoku era japan - Covering more the military/combat/strategy stuff of that period. I'm not so keen on love stories so naturally I'd prefer something with lost of action...

Is their anything like that that you guys are aware of?

The only thing I've watched that matches your description is the 2011 Korean movie Bow, The Ultimate Weapon/ War of the Arrows. I haven't seen these three Korean dramas but it also matches the description. You can check them out. Their titles are Soldier (2012), Tree With Deep Roots (2011), King Gwanggaeto the Great (2011-2012).

Hi, I'm looking for the name of a drama I watched in China last month. It's a historical, costume-drama (not of the Qing Dynasty), looked like a fairly-new production, and I'm 70% sure it's from the mainland (it's in Mandarin). I'd also categorize it as a romantic comedy.

The basic plotline of the drama (or the parts that I watched anyway) involves a young emperor, his kind empress, a mischievous girl turned palace maid, and their ensuing love triangle. I also think both the empress and the mischievous girl shared the same name (Baozhu, or something like that). The main antagonists (from what I could tell) are the emperor's conniving aunt/nurse-mother and her accomplice who try to kill the empress and install other concubines in her place (including the gentle De Fei and a scheming palace maid who claims she is pregnant).

In one of the episodes, the evil aunt/nurse-mother, knowing that the emperor is allergic to a certain plant, poisons the emperor and convinces him he should no longer see the empress because it is the empress's fault. The mischievous girl cures him with a folk remedy and gets rid of his spots-- it is also around this time that she realizes she might like the emperor. Another episode involved the girl becoming determined to rise up in the world by becoming a female court official.

Does anyone know what drama this may be? Thanks in advance!

I was watching some Immortal Song clips on youtube and in one they kept showing this face in the audience. I'm pretty sure its an actor (though I suppose it could be a singer). The face is so familiar though, it seems like I've seen him in a drama recently. Anyone know who this is? Does this ever happen to you guys or am I the only one going senile!?

It's been a few days - anyone recognize this guy at all or know what drama he might have been in?

thanks

Hi all!

I really like this show called Garo (has 2 seasons and a movie from what I know), I've also seen it called Golden Knight Garo. I'm just looking if anyone know's anything similar or has any recommendations for me.

For those of you that are unfamiliar, Garo is a horror/action drama released in 2006 that features the protagonist Kouga as he hunts down "Horrors" (think demons). It has a lot of sword play and features some truly creative monsters, as well a deep plot and likeable characters. Very dark and not for kids, it was only shown after midnight and featured blood/gore and partial nudity.

I'm looking for anything similar to that. Dark and mature, lots of action and deep storyline. Bonus points if it features some grotesque monsters and swordplay, or anything with a character that can transform during a fight.

Oh also, for anyone familiar with Garo, if you know where I can view it in HD I would appreciate that as well. Thanks alot!

That's ``return of the condor heroes'', probably the 2006 version

There was this Live Action, Japanese, Detective Comedy show I really liked to watch on Crunchyroll, but for some reason it got taken off.

Now I want to watch it again. The only problem is that I have no idea what the show was called.... If anyone can tell me the name if the show I am thinking of, that would be great.

It was about a group of 3 detectives solving random cases in some part of rural looking Japan.

From what I remember, the head detective always fell on his back when he needed to tie his shoes (lol). He was a little eccentric and had a pretty wife that was always mad at him.

There were 2 other detectives: One liked to goof off but was still useful in ways, and the other was pretty normal, but that was what was good about his character.

Hopefully a detective will be able to solve this mystery!

I should look in this thread more often; I actually know the answer to this. Deka Kurokawa Suzuki.

Unfortunately it's no longer available on CR--the link just goes to the page it used to be at. Its last day at Crunchy was May 31. See this site news article that announces it going away.
