Its a bittersweet EXPECTED ending, well to me its basically a big middle finger. Also "unexpectedly" they never make it to the north, not a big spoiler. Dammit I should've known it would end in a way I wouldn't like. It seems like all anime nowadays have to have a 'bittersweet' ending instead of going for the overall happy ending. I actually didn't mind how they ended season 2. It seemed like a good ending if they never decide to finish up the rest of the light novels. Even though it had the worst animated kiss I have ever seen. I swear if one of them dies I'm gonna be uber pissed....and the fact they don't make it to the north kinda blows too. They don't die we'll from what I heard it doesn't sound like it and remember holo lives forever and I was furious when I read what happened however I shouldn't be surprised it was obvious that was going to happen but since I found out the ending blows hard, I would pick Baka and test, it was halrious. Technically wouldn't the ending (speaking of the light novel) be considered bestiality (if you actually read the ending, you'd know what I'm talking about)? I mean it's sweet and all, but she has a tail and wolf ears. Not to mention she's an immortal wolf spirit - wait nevermind, I answered my own question. I could always put the ending in a spoiler tag later, if anyone wants to know, or you could just look it up yourself. No idea why you quoted and said that since I already know but ok.

Theirs goals at the start are changed in that Lawrence doesn't care about starting his own large business and is content with just staying with Holo, who feels the same way. They open their own bath house called Spice & Wolf, just a simple and modest small shop - nothing big. They are preparing for a party (of which they invited all of their friends they made along their journey) and while discussing it over a bath Holo tells him (in her own special way) that the party was to boast about her being preggo. Yeah Lawrence will eventually die, he's human, but he told her no matter what happens to be happy. Find another partner you love just as much down the line, don't be lonely. She doesn't like that reality but does her best to accept it and later meets another Diety and they talk to each other and from that conversation she finally realizes what she wants to do about it; what she should do. What that is, is left ambiguous if I remember correctly. Forgoes her immortality and dies with Lawrence? That's what I think, she decides that to be her best chance at being as happy as she will be.

You made me cry, what a sweet story. However if SHE DID DIE WITH HIM, that changes the entire playing field and I WOULD WANT to see it.
