In the many mangas my friend, sister, and I have read..All of us found that we like the unpopular manga's art more than the popular manga's. Popular mangas I am talking about: Naruto, One piece, bleach, Kimi ni todoke, Skip beat, Shugo chara, ect..I don't really keep pics of those on my computer..I have some SC... So really good art that is fairly unpopular(These are just some pics i had on my computer...Don't judge me lol): Legend of the Sun Knight: Spoiler Alert! In Naruto, besides naruto and sakura, almost not of the characters have detailed eyes. I think none of the characters have carefully detailed hair that looks beautiful to me.

But there are plenty of popular mangas with REALLY good art. ( im sure there are unpopular that have good art as well) . theres no need to think that unpopular manga is being undermined or underrated. Its unpopular because 1: people just havent gotten the chance to read it or 2: its not that good ( no offense we all have different tatse but a good story usually gets noticed, truth hurts :P) btw Skip Beat is beautifully drawn as well as Shugo Chara. and i know a few unpopular mangas were the art is very good. . . .well im not sure if there unpopular im just saying based on how often i hear about it on sites and ratings here are a few unpopular and popular with Good art. If it's monthly, the artist can make a visually good looking manga. If it's weekly, the artist doesn't have the time to make a good looking manga. Spoiler Alert! I would think a reason that Blade of the Immortal isn't very popular is because the first volume was released, in English, in 1997, and each volume is $15-20 retail . technically it's still worth it because the paper quality is so high.

Most of the popular manga focus on the story, which mainly keeps people reading them every week or month. Take Gintama for example. I read some of the manga, and it's hilarious, even though the art isn't that good. But in the non-popular stories, i think the reason why they focus on the art is to attract people to it, to get them to start reading. Well, that's what I think anyways.
