You know when people go out and try to bring people to their point of view by doing stupid things. Splashing red dye on people who wear fur, putting diapers on goats at gay rodeos, or shouting “all atheists are stupid” or “Religious people are narrow minded and weak!”

Those extremists who act like little @sses and just push everyone further away. Like those evangelistic but false prophets? Well, this thread is dedicated to these people and their stupid methods! What are your thoughts? Do you think it’s fair to make fun of them? General discussion about all these things. Maybe we’ll end up educating each other on the stupidity people can show in their ignorance.

seraph could define a little more as to what this topic is about? do you mean we flame the flammers(by the way i think "flame, flamming, and flammers" are stupid terms, how bout agitaters or debaters) or do we publically denounce their views and way of life?

Usually, extremists are so close minded that you could scream the nastiest insults or have the most clever rebuttals and they won't care. It's like trying to break down a wall with a carton of eggs.
The best strategy is to ignore them, that really gets to them because ultimately, all they want is attention to their cause.

There was a bunch of dirty hippies that used to hang out outside my favorite steakhouse in South Texas pushing their vegan ways on everyone walking into the restaurant, and trying to lay down guilt trips on the ones coming out. Eventually they got tired of being ignored and moved on to a pasture somewhere.

I find atheists and Peta members to be some of the most ruthless, extremists, and at the same time Hipocrites, that I have ever encountered.
Avoid this groups at all costs!!
Never argue with an Atheist, he will end up calling you stupid and walking away.

You're stupid *walks away*

Haha no. I won't call you stupid, I'll rebutt you reasons with another logical one.

From the examples you have supplied, at least they were related. (ie, the vegans being against meat) But I've been in debates about the meaning of a novel, and if the person can't think of anything better will just shout, "Well God isn't even real!" Not only is this being extremely one sided, but if that was justification for thinking I wouldn't be able to translate the meaning of a poem or story (that was not religious at all, btw)... well, it just left me wtf?

In short, it was the arguement with the athiest you just mentioned. Except... it had nothing to do with religion.

Better than covering your ears and closing your eyes repeating "god is real" over and over :P.

Of course your going to see them as a hipocrite from your point of view.

Im not sure about those guys at peta, but I dont think atheists blow up buildings with bombs strapped to them in the name of "no-god", so I'm pretty sure theres more religious extremists than anything else.

I'm an atheist and yeah, I find the notion of religion humerous, but I wouldn't ever try to push my views onto someone else, as then i'd be just as bad as those annoying Jahovah's witnesses that knock on my door every weekend.

Well, I am not a religious person, neither do I believe in God. But, i wouldn't call myself an Atheist, nor an Agnostic, i really don't like categorizing myself in any of those.
I simply used atheists and peta members to make my point, and I only meant to make it about the extremists, I was not generalizing the groups entirely.
But you are right Riavan, Atheists are not blowing themselves up like other religious extremists.

This whole topic is about those few who make the generalizations for the many. Not all athiests run around telling people they are stupid for believing in God, they just don't agree is all. PETA kidnapped babies in the past. Most of the extremists broke off in the early 90s, but PETA still catches the rep for that kind of action.

Your bomb quote, btw, implied that religious people do that kind of thing commonly, I know that's not what you were aiming for, more that athiests aren't known for that behavior... but really, don't start to sound like one of the people this thread was created to flame.
