Availability Notes: Sorry, due to licensing limitations, videos are unavailable in your region.

For paying non-American members the seemingly ever increasing amount of heavily region blocked shows is extremely tiresome. Paying money so American's can watch shows for free isn't a terribly compelling product.

This is creating animosity amongst non-Americans and damaging CR as a brand, infuriated users aren't going to diffirentiate between the publishers with restrictive licensing and the site in general.

I wouldn't be so hasty to draw a line between "American" and "non-American" members. Some non-American regions get to view most shows. I admit some catalog titles have very limited regions, but I think all simulcasts have been available in Scandinavian countries so far.

Agree with this.
Either lower the price for none american members, or focus on getting shows for all and not only the americans. This is the only thing that would make it fair as it stands now.

I really need to buy more Lucky Star, thanks for reminding me, if only I could get all 6 as the LEs, I prefer the cover so much.

Good luck with your search, they are worth the trouble. You might be able to glean volumes 1-5 from several online stores. However, volume 6 was never released as LE because of low sales on earlier volumes.

True, but considering that anime never get´s licensed here it would be strange if not.
Still think it is strange that old shows that never been licensed here still get the regional block. I mean most people don´t even seem to know where we are located in the world anyway, should be easy to just pretend we are in the right area not like anyone would notice...

It is strange but I think it either comes down to Japanese licensors thinking it's not worth it or Crunchyroll thinking it's not worth it. I must admit that I already own DVDs for all shows that I find interesting and that are available in R1 region. Fortunately I have a bit limited taste for anime. However for that reason I'm probably not the best person to discuss this region availability issue :)

I've got both on shows DVD already so I will be passing on these. "Lucky Star" is hardly a surprise with "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" being on Crunchyroll already. "Melody of Oblivion" was such a mind trip. Get ready to hear a lot of "Viva! Monster Union!!" I never would have expected that "Melody of Oblivion" would be on here. The best thing about Melody of Oblivion was the theme songs IMHO.

A lot of love for Lucky Star, which was fun in its own way I'll admit. But I am actually more excited for Melody of Oblivion, a series I started but never finished. It is a strange combination of generas with an otherworldly feel to it. From the first three DVD volumes I've seen you should all give this title a look as well as Lucky Star.

Note: Just to warn you, the two series are nothing alike!

Whenever you launch something don't unless you can make it available worldwide. You have done that a bit with your paunching of classics lately and it gets annoying when you are so glad their on crunchyroll and then you try to watch it and you can't. It's REALLY annoying

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! Awesome! Oh, not available in my region.
Mobile Suit Gundum! Awesome! Oh, not available in my region.
Lucky Star! Awesome! Oh, not available in my region.

Seriously, this list could go on and on. I keep trying to be excited for Crunchyroll, but it's disheartening to see title after title denied, especially since even the premium members who can't watch these are still paying for them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a big Crunchyroll supporter, but fair go. If we only get access to half the titles, why do we pay the same rates? For some countries, depending on exchange rates, they could be paying considerably more than the average American, comparatively.

Also, to speak frankly, the message 'We are trying to obtain worldwide rights for this title, please be patient.' is garbage. Naruto has had that message for over a year and a half. In fact, I'm not aware of a single case where the region rights for a title have changed. I'm also not aware of a single case where a title has been available to certain parts of the world, but not available in North America.

It's hard not to feel like Crunchyroll looks at America as its audience, and the rest of the world as its income.

I have alot of sympathy for CrunchyRoll. Licencing can be a huge minefield and each country has to be considered individually. There are some very odd licencing decisions. For instance I have never seen Clannad DVD's for sale in Australia so I don't know who has the rights to those here.

If it comes between not having a show and having a show in a limited area then obviously CrunchyRoll will go for the second option. I'd just like them to acknowledge that when somthing is announced available to 'all premium members' that it actually means that.
