So many times when I read the comments after watching an anime subbed, I see people saying stuff like "How did those Americans know Japanese fluently?". Well here's the explanation to that. They actually don't know Japanese in the anime. It's just what the audience hears. It's so the Japanese audience wouldn't have to read a whole bunch of subtitles when the anime was made in their country where most people speak and read Japanese. A good example of the audience hearing a language the character isn't speaking is the movie Kunta Kinte. They during a few scenes have him speak his native African lanaguage to remind the audience that while they're hearing English, he isn't actually speaking it. So you have to use your imagination that they are speaking the country they are in's dominant language (Ex: America: English, Sweden: Swedish, France: French, etc.).

Well, they DO have an army base there.

Also, they could be weeaboos.

Who cares?

It's like asking "Why Pochahontas can speak english?"

Thanks for explaining that Meidou.

Another question you can answer is: Do these voice actors have an american accent?
I am unable to answer this because I can't speak japanese.
But maybe you do....

Also I think you mean the movie Roots. yes?
Isn't it Roots and not "Kunte Kinte?"

Do you want some sort of cookie for thinking that you sound smart?

Oh yeah, I see everyone saying "How did those Americans know Japanese fluently" too.

Because no one besides you is smart enough to understand the idea of voice acting.

Fuck off.
