Will CR use the Stage Video API introduced in Flash 10.2 for complete hardware acceleration of the entire video pipeline? Not just h.264 decode as was in 10.1 but the rest of the rendering pipeline: colorspace conversion, scaling, mixing / compositing / blitting, text rendering enhancements, etc.

I was just testing crunchyroll on my netbook with ion under ubuntu using the newly released flash 10.2 beta, youtube videos at 1080p run flawlessly, but i can barely play even SD crunchyroll vids. Someone looking into this would be fantastic.

thanks!

Yeah, the other big news is that complete GPU offloading is also available for Linux + Nvidia for players using the new Stage API

Now that Flash 10.2 is officially out, does Crunchyroll plan on supporting the Stage Video feature? I have a Viliv N5 and I was hoping this feature would reduce resource usage and increase my battery life. Though, I don't know if my Intel GPU will actually help much or if it's even supported.

I would especially like it to be enabled on the m.crunchyroll.com site since I use that site when using my Viliv N5.

This is not high priority since most people don't have Adobe Flash 10.2 yet but I'm sure we'll do it when we have time.

The update should be rolled out automatically to just about all flash users.(Which is all users of crunchyroll right?)

It's been about three weeks since the official launch so i think that most people should have been updated by now, and I for one would just be happier than hell if this got a bit higher priority. I have a box w xbmc attached to a projector, and damn I would love to watch crunchyroll on it. Unfortunately, since there is no Crunchyroll plugin for xbmc and since flash on atom / ion without hardware acceleration is painful, i can't.

^^ pretty please?

I vote for this as well - Boxee uses the crappy flash player which is horrible under linux. Please add this as soon as possible because watching CR vids on a HTPC running linux is currently horrible.

I think you guys should straighten out your connection issues first but after that would be nice to implement this, I don't know if HULU has implemented stage video on their site but their videos seem to play smoother lately.

I have a media center with nvidia ION as well. Youtube HD plays smoothly with hw acceleration, but i'm not able to even view 480p on crunchyroll Only more and more small devices will support flash hw playback, so I can't understand why this is not a high priority for the crunchyroll team to give a better user experience than other sites before the average customer start complaining.

For the people who do still use Flash, it sounds like 10.2 optimization would indeed be a nice update to the player. However, does Crunchyroll have any plans for switching to HTML5 instead or offering the option? I believe at this point, any up-to-date browser should support it.

Would definitely like to see this. I can play HD videos on youtube using Flash 10.2 with no problems but crunchyroll still struggles.
