Nice. I don't have a Roku, or plan to get one. But this is good news. I'm not sure why so many are asking for a PS3 app, I watch anime on CR every morning with my PS3. I guess mainly the problem would be trying to stream anything more than 480p tends to cause lots of buffering issues, but that might just be my internet.

I'm not much a gamer nowadays, but I'm a bigger anime fan than I ever used to be

this is great news. With netflix being so big and the Roku player in a lot of homes already this was obviously a smart move. This just makes watching anime on your TV just so much easier now. Thanks!!!
I also wanted to note that it's not likely that there will be a app for the Wii. The system is just way to under powered to do HD at all let alone flash. If the Wii HD does ever come then maybe but i really do not see the CR team working on the Wii since it really is not all the powerful of a console at all. Processors: CPU: PowerPC-based "Broadway" processor, made with a 90 nm SOI CMOS process, reportedly† clocked at 729 MHz[117] GPU: ATI "Hollywood" GPU made with a 90 nm CMOS process,[118] reportedly† clocked at 243 MHz[117] "Starlet", part of the Hollywood package: an ARM926EJ-S processor reportedly† clocked at 243MHz[119]. Memory: 88 MB main memory (24 MB "internal" 1T-SRAM integrated into graphics package, 64 MB "external" GDDR3 SDRAM)[120] 3 MB embedded GPU texture memory and framebuffer. This is from wikipedia so This may not be 100% but from these specs are very unimpressive. So I really can't see them working on the Wii at all. Sorry guys. I mean netflix just got on the Wii if i remember correctly a few months ago. |

I've been waiting for an anime channel for the Roku player ever since I got it (when they first came out) and I was sooo stoked to see it finally here! Already tested it out before and watched a few dramas that are up so far and some Bleach
Can't wait for the other dramas to be up in a week or so |

Dear god yes! Now only if you also had a Windows Media Center plug-in, or a streaming channel setup for the Xbox, Wii, and/or PS3.
BTW: How goes work on the native Android player? I can understand that the DRM issue is a holdback, but Progress updates would be great. The mobile flash site is an improvement in situation, but isn't all the way there yet. |

I'm back up in the mountains...

I just ordered a Roku XD last week for my folks so they could stream Netflix - now that CR is available on it they may be getting something else for Xmas...either that or I'll be visiting more often...

I wouldn't mind a Wii version of CR. Okay, so the Wii doesn't have HD capabilities, but IMHO, standard definition is better than no definition. Besides, the Wii does support (anamorphic) widescreen, so that's something at least, and most if not all CR videos support progressive scan (AKA: 480p, which the Wii also supports). As for a PS3 app, that would also be a good idea. At the moment, CR works fine with the PS3's internet browser (which appears to be based on IE6), but I don't know how long that will last, so I too hope that the PS3 gets one.
Unfortunately, I have no plans to buy a Roku player at this time. Still, it's a great idea, though. |

Thank you so much for including support for the ROKU. I was an early adopter of the ROKU box and it has been wonderful the last few years of using it. The moment I found out the channel was released, I joined up for a premium account and now know what my wife and I'll be doing during the holidays.
One quick question: I signed up as an anime member. How many more drama shows are available to the anime+drama account vs what I am seeing being listed with my anime membership? I enjoy Japanese tv series similar to densha otoko. In hindsight, should have selected the full membership for my trial period Oh well. Thanks again for supporting this platform! |
