If you notice any problems with the videos that are currently available, please report it here so we can fix them. Some may be missing subtitles.

You will notice that some videos and entire shows are missing right now since we are still in the process of encoding them.

Note: I changed the title to include VIA (Vizio Internet Apps) since they use the same encodes that we use for Roku.

I might have it fixed in a few hours but I won't know for sure until tomorrow, when I have access to a Roku box.

Edit: Episode 7 still has problems so we'll have to look into that further.

I can confirm that the video has already been encoded for Roku but the data for the Roku channel is cached and updates once every day. This may be why the latest episode of Otome Yokai Zakuro doesn't show up through our Roku Channel. So you may unfortunately need to wait until tomorrow to view it.

Further down the road, we're going to either refresh the cache more often or not use caching at all but right now caching is necessary for transitional purposes.

So is the lack of episodes because of not having a premium account or just because your still working on converting files to "Roku format"? Will Crunchyroll have any limitations for web only episodes like Hulu Plus or is the goal to have everything available on the web site available via the Roku channel (provided I have a premium account)?

Most of the episodes that currently are unavailable need to be manually be updated before we can re-encode them which we are in the long arduous process of doing. So the missing episodes has nothing to do with being a Premium member or not. Once everything's sorted out, the availability should be practically the same as the site. We are trying to make the experience as similar as possible across multiple platforms so that it's easy for everyone to watch the videos wherever they are.

Not sure if you plan any modifications for the channel yet but here are a couple I noticed from using the channel the last 3 days:
  • BUG When an episode finishes it will currently offer a "Resume from 23:46" or some such. When an episode ends, the resume time should be cleared
  • Syncronize the "resume play from" with that on the website / other platforms. So if I watch half on my ipod, I could continue where I left off on my Roku
  • Keep track of the last episode I watched. Then from the "Show" selection screen the "Play" button on the remote would:
    • Resume the latest episode in resume mode OR
    • Play the next episode numerically OR
    • Play the first episode numerically if all episodes are watched, or no episodes are watched.

  • The "Play" button on the remote should Play/Resume an episode from the episode selection screen. I shouldn't have to "select" the episode if I want to resume/play it.
  • Allow me to add/remove Favorites since they are special lists. Having to edit the Favorites on the website is a little annoying.
  • You show the rating in stars, but don't let me select a rating

I think that's it.

I'm so excited that Crunchyroll finally has a Roku channel! I've been wanting it since the day I got that Roku box!

How quickly do you guys think you'll be up to speed in the channel? (For instance, a lot of the special categories, like "Historical" or "Mecha" are empty despite things like Dong Yi and Gundam 00 available in the story.)

Also, when do you think you'll get a fuller selection of Dramas? The choices right now are disappointingly short, and I'm really looking forward to watching dramas on my actual TV for once!

I wouldn't be able to give an accurate timeline since there are a lot of factors unbeknownst to me. From what I do know, it could take a month or more to make everything available and we're trying to make the more popular shows available first. Our most popular shows happen to be Anime series which would account for why there are a decent amount of Anime shows available but not a lot of Drama shows at the moment.

I see, that makes sense! (And thanks for the quick reply!)

Errr... I feel like one of those people that complain about everything, but episode three of Gloria has a bug in it right now - it won't play further than 31:46 (despite being a 52 minute episode). (Or was that intentional?)

I tried both video qualities on our Roku XR box and the whole episode seems to be there for me. Can you fast forward past that part?

I had limited anime and drama content until I linked my Roku. As soon as it was linked the existing content disappeared. I have selections in both my Favorites and Wait Lists, but Roku is showing "No Items Available" on all three menus (Anime, Drama, My Favorites).
