I'm sorry to bother at such a seemingly busy time, but I, too, am experiencing problems with dramas on Roku. Particularly Beethoven Virus ep.6 & 7. It will play the commercial but instead of loading the drama it just returns to the pay episode page. I'd be very happy if they could be repaired some time. Thank you for all your hard work!

The crunchyroll app is the only app that freezes up my roku box. Sometimes it will just pause for a minute then restart the box. Other times, just freezes indefinitely. I have played video back-to-back all day with the netflix and amazon apps and never had a problem. I can play all day from Mediafly's TWIT app.

The issues with video not wanting to start playing and the lock ups, is making watching crunchyroll on the roku an unpleasant experience. I love ya crunchyroll, but I wish playing videos via roku wasn't such a pain.

I know this was probably already mentioned but any thoughts on adding a "Recently Added" section? That way you could just hit the new shows you're interested in instead of searching through new titles to see which one has a new episode that day.

In other words, something like the following, but implemented for the Roku, correct?:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime/recent

ok it seams like the roku problem is fixed for the most part now the problem is specific series no longer crunchyroll app as a whole i have tested this on several series and they are consistent throughout all episodes on the times it takes to load an episode BasouKazuma im suggesting that some of the servers load slower than others. and are certain series hosted on different content servers? because it seams like it is taking time to uncompress episodes and certain series would benefit from longer time out times or at least if the app kept retrying the connection to episodes.

and when you list episodes on here please try all of the episodes you can in that series before posting so we can see if this is this problem.

Thanks,
Brian

Yeah, like that. Right now I have to add a new series to a favorites list through the website then when I kick back with the Roku remote I have to browse all the new series I have 'favorited' to see if an episode was added.

I don't really want to mess with a favorites list. I think it's easier just to hit the new releases section and select a new episode that has come out rather than check each new series. Sure, I could check the website then go watch on the Roku but it would be more convenient to just eliminate that step.

The problem seems to still be consistent across most of the series I have tried to watch. (Most of them in the popular category because that is the first section that pops up in the Roku menu next to favorites and I hoped those would work...) New shows play fine, old shows...not so much.

Sometimes I can get an episode or two to play if I start and stop the video stream repeatedly, but that is really not acceptable. Yes, I could watch them on my computer and I frequently do. I've been a member for quite a while and I enjoy the service that this site offers. It is nice to be able to curl up on the sofa after a long day of work though and watch some anime. I have been going back through some of my boxed sets recently because the Roku channel for this site is awful. No, really, it is awful and shame on the developers that work on this site for letting this go on for so long. There are clearly a lot of channels with as much if not more content that can stream to the Roku without issue and can do so with better resolution. If Crunchyroll wants to have a proper presence on streaming players then this needs to get resolved. It is difficult for people to recommend something that doesn't work. This is not an isolated issue. I'm honestly surprised if there has not been any pressure from Roku to get this fixed considering that the third thing that comes up in search results for "roku crunchyroll" is a 20+ page forum thread on Crunchyroll about all of the streaming issues.

Roku rant aside, I really do enjoy Crunchyroll's service. It's nice to have a place to come and watch anime with some sort of regularity. Fansubs are wonderful, but not always consistent, sometimes a group will not do an entire series, and you can also watch licensed content here. This is a great site and I appreciate what Crunchyroll does for anime, but I would appreciate it even more if the channel on the Roku worked with something resembling consistency. ^_^

Yeah, I've only gotten one older series to work okay. But sometimes if I can see it's going to time out I can hit the 'back' button and try again and sometimes it will load right up. New stuff plays fine but sometimes I go back and pick an older series at random if nothing new interests me but it's frustrating when I pick a couple shows and all of them sit at the "receiving data" screen and then time-out.

Same issues here as well. I imagine they might not have the infrastructure in place to handle all the streaming, but they do seem fine from the web browser, and at higher resolutions, so I'm not sure what's up.

I do like CrunchRoll, but I'm probably going to ride out my subscription and then wait to see if they can get things streaming to Roku better. It's kind of a weak piece of hardware but other channels seem to stream HD just fine.

Does anyone know if the same issue is affecting Boxee?

Add me to the list of those having problems. For the anime shows I'm watching, I have a hard time just making it through the credits without buffering three to four times on the Roku XDS. The shows work fine from my PC with no issues. Comcast is my ISP. Also, the problem has been significantly worse for me over the last couple of weeks.

I'm thinking about getting a Roku and hoping somebody can give me a clear answer to this. On Roku can you turn off subtitles? I know on iOS they are hardsubs (and thus can't be turned off), but I can't find anything clear about how that's handled on Roku or other devices. Thanks.

Yeah...good luck with that. I've been riding out for months with no fixes other than "We're working on it." From many of the posts, it sounds like many are canceling their premium service or opting to wait for a fix. Sadly, it wasn't like this at first, so whether it's a new server or just more viewers (or both), it doesn't look like any return to normal is on the horizon.
