Sorry for answering myself, but it appears that the CR app on Roku is busted if you previously had an account. It will not allow me to get a new ID code to link to my new account. It instantly 'connects' me to a free, low res, with ads account. :(
Yes, from that account, slide over from the [Anime] and [Drama] boxes all the way over to the box that says to link your account and it will give you the ID code to link to your new account.

It ought to work from there, I accidentally unlinked my account once, and was able to get straight back on from that box in the free account.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have done that multiple times. That screen just flashes by and goes to 'Congratulations, you have successfully linked your account' or somesuch. The problem is that it is linking to an old, supposedly deleted account and will not allow me to get a new ID for the new account. I have tried resetting the Roku via the hard reset, removing CR and restarting Roku, everything I can think of, but I get exactly the same results every time.

I assume it is because that ID was not deleted when the old account was closed. But I am again a paid premium member, and would very much like to watch on the tv via Roku vs on my computer screen. I cannot do that as long a CR thinks my Roku is connected to a non-existent account. It is funny, but Netflix, Amazon, etc. allowed me to relink correctly immediately. The only issue is CR.

Again, thanks for the suggestion. At this point, I have no more ideas until I hear from CR.

I hope that you have emailed them, and are sure to be clear in your description that its trying to link to a previous deleted Crunchyroll account. As a premium member, emailing is normally fastest.

I was still on the same Crunchyroll account when I unlinked and relinked, so its not the same issue.

It seems it was linked to a deleted account. So there must be an bug that prevents the account from being unlinked if linked to a deleted account. We'll look into that.

For now, I manually unlinked it for you. So you should be able to link to your new account.

Thank you sir. It appears to be working properly again.

Update:

Yep...it works. Thanks again!

Part of last week and all weekend long I can't even get through even an anime episode intro without the Roku encountering the famous CR buffer stutter saying "loading, please wait" every 10 seconds or so. Now I have to pause, let the entire episode buffer, then play it which I don't like sitting around watching the activity light on the router to let me know when it's finished.

And no, I don't get this with any other Roku channel I use and yes I already tried changing even the DNS options on the router... no dice. I used to get this with the computer but now the Roku too? What's going on? Things used to work great.

I'm about ready to just give up altogether even if I do have premium time remaining. Doesn't do me much good if I can't use it.

Tonight was my first night back with the Roku and CR. I was premium for a bit and gave up waiting for the issues to be solved. Tonight I watched 5 or 6 episodes on various anime titles on the TV with the Roku with absolutely 0 issues! YAY! Everything worked flawlessly, even at the dreaded 9PM CDT time slot. (It used to be impossible to stream at that time)

Since you've already made sure the DNS entries were good, have you tried unlinking your account, and then relinking it? If CR is serving from a different server, this might allow Roku to link to the new server or somesuch. CR still seems to be learning about the Roku (see above) so this might help. Other than that, all I can offer is that my service was atrocious, now it works great. I understand your frustration and hope it works out for you.

Best Regards,

Nah, same thing. I can't even make it through the intro to the latest ep of The World God Only Knows S2. Everything with the Roku used to work great until last week then it all went to pot.

endosanity you are using a shared connection at a college rite? do you think maby it could be a problem on the college network?

No, I'm way past college dude. It's my own network at home that I share with me, myself, and I. The Roku can go wired or wireless and ever since the post of "we changed service providers" Crunchyroll won't play anything without buffering numerous, numerous times. Before that, It worked fantastic, new videos started in less than 2 seconds and the older ones (if they worked that is) maybe... a few seconds more never stopping to buffer at any time during playback.

All the other Roku channels I use, even the public domain ones, work great and Netflix can even stream in HD to it without a single hitch.

Asura Cryin' Season 1 last week showed up but no subtitles this week I am getting message "Error This video does not exist. It may currently be encoding. Please try again soon. But it has been this way all week. Second part to the series seems to work fine? It seems that the first part would have been encoded before the second but geee I could be wrong here. It has been this way for well over two weeks. I just went on to watch something else and can watch it on my computer but not on my roku box.

Edited to add that Skip Beat! Episode 11 and 13 are not right. 11 is 7 min and 57 secs long on Roku and 13 is 13 mins and 11 secs and the subs are all messed up. Did not watch more but looks like episode 25 is 5 min and 36 secs...

Aware of Asura Cryin Season 1 missing. I think we need new source videos for that. Also aware of the issues with Skip Beat. Fixed most of Skip Beat's episodes but still trying to fix the remaining ones. Can't give an ETA though.

What video are you trying to watch? Also, try letting it sit while the loading bar is stuck and see if it automatically stops loading and goes back to the previous screen or not. It might just be taking a little time to initialize the connection.
