So, no promotion of your own Roku channel banner ad on the site? You're giving out 30-day free trials for Roku users... that's pretty good.

And for those thinking about getting a Roku, pass on the LT version. Yeah, it's cheap but then again... it's not really a Roku 2. And the features and playback of the Roku 2 easily surpass the original Roku. Just saying is all.

Does CR stream HD through the Roku yet? Last time I checked the answer was no. Just wanted to check before I bought one.

Hi, I'm an ex-premium user that watches dramas more than anime. Crunchyroll has always seemed to focus more on anime, and left a lot of glitches for the drama-watchers, hence my switch to another drama-concentrated site.

Anyhow!! Recently acquired a Vizio Blu Ray player and while exploring the apps on it, I discovered Crunchyroll. Suddenly, this site became exciting again! I started watching the 18th episode of Iris and was so excited about the quality of the video and getting to finally watch this amazing series on my HDTV. Imagine my disappointment when dialogue began sans subtitles. *sighs* So much for that.

I have been reading around this thread and haven't found much info on the Crunchyroll experience on VIA. Some updates on subtitles processing or whatever would be great. If I can watch CR on my TV, it would become a viable site for me once again. Especially if Premium perks are included. I would definitely pay for it again~

Has anyone else had recent stream interruption problems on the roku when watching anime such as bleach? I just got my roku and the other apps seem to stream fine. I have changed the access from wireless to wired, rebooted it, and even checked to make sure it streamed ok on my MacBook Air (which it did). It's somewhat aggravating that the thing won't stream more than 2-3 minutes at a time since crunchy is the sole reason I got the roku (just couldn't take the rigged ps3 browser way of streaming anymore).

Thanks
Mike

Still no 720p on the Roku AFAIK. In fact, at this point, I don't know of any of the app-based streams that offer it. At this point, it seems the only way to get 720p is via a web browser.

No problems here streaming anything on my Roku, and the last program I watched on it was just over an hour ago.

Anything that has a 720p version gets watched on my PC, however (see the other reply in this message for the reason), so I can't verify if the Roku encode for Bleach perhaps has a problem, but I've had zero problems with the CR streams I've watched on my Roku recently.

I don't know if this is actually a recent issue (for me), since for a while there I was only watching episodes that were coming out weekly for series (Naruto, Bleach, etc.) but I just finished watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and in the middle of watching Gosick, and every time I finish an episode and go back to watch the next, it starts me back at the first episode. So, either the functionality to recall the latest episode watched is missing or I'm missing a vital step in the proper use of Roku. Does anyone else experience this or have a fix/explanation for me?

Another feature I would like to suggest (if it doesn't already exist) would be to have a notice or alert that a series is being removed due to licensing, etc. I was in the middle of watching Steins;Gate and hadn't visited the site in a while and completely missed that it would be removed by a certain date. I only went to investigate on the site when there was no videos available via my Roku. Is this a possibility, or again, am I totally missing something?? ^_^;;

Thank you for the feedback!!

P.S. I totally love my Roku + Crunchyroll, and after reading through this entire thread, I somehow completely missed all the problems/issues, considering I've had my Roku since January of '11. O_o

It sounds an awfully lot like the queue doesn't think you've finished watching the first episode. I think it glitches that way sometimes: it'd be nice to have a "mark episode as watched" choice in the episode display menu.

Last year I checked out a Roku forum thread about using the Roku overseas ~ my guess is it already works, its just that Netflix is Roku's big sales driver, so they'll be actually marketing them to the UK now.

The first Episode of Wagnaria season 2 has a error that prevents it from playing on VIA. When you attempt to play it loads for about 30 seconds and returns to the episode screen saying Video Playback Error. I have tried it about 50 times and it says it always and I have tried Episode 2 and it works first time every time.

Damn....well that still kinda sucks.

Well not that it doesn't still look fairly decent in SD on my tv, though. But it'd cetainly would be nice to be able to have the same resolution options aw for the website. Hopefully one day that will be come a reality.

I just imported a US Roku to the UK and can't seem to find the Crunchyroll channel at all. There's no way for me to even search for it; when I go to the channel store, all I can see are New, Most Popular, Featured channels etc, but no way for me to search. =S

According to the Roku Guide it should be in the "Movies and TV" section of the Channel Store.

I see you also posted in the Roku forums, so no need to suggest that.

Make certain you are seeing everything by pressing the down button. The guide not only scrolls side to side, but also goes deeper than the screen displays.

If it is still not showing up, it could be that Roku geo-restricted the app even though CR didn't tell them to.If that's the case, CR will need to get in touch with Roku to correct the problem. That would also either mean that you are the first international user of CR on the Roku, or any previous users didn't bother to notify CR of the problem.

I am a bit curious why you went to the trouble of importing a Roku, when it was recently announced they would begin selling the Roku in the UK and Ireland (and had announced earlier they would be expanding to international markets starting early this year). If you didn't know about that, then you're the unfortunate victim of poor timing.

Yeah, I didn't know that Roku planned to enter the market, sadly.

But yes, I've found out that the Crunchyroll channel simply isn't available here in the UK, despite being told by Crunchyroll themselves that it was.

Seeing as I imported the box solely for Crunchyroll, I've contacted them about this. I really hope this can be fixed, and indeed don't see any reason why it *shouldn't* be available here. The fact they've told me it is makes me hope it's simply a mistake that can easily be rectified. If not, this misinformation from them has cost me £90.

Also, it should be added that the fact mine's a US model shouldn't actually matter in this case- the fact is that the Crunchyroll channel has, for whatever reason, been made unavailable for this region- therefore I imagine even if I had a UK model, it wouldn't show up either. If the channel's actually meant to be available here, it should show up and work regardless of where my Roku originated from. I think/ hope.

Hopefully if nothing else, when Roku launches in the UK, more people will notice this and they'll make it available here then? If they want it available to the UK market, they'll need to.

Indeed the fact that it is the US model should make no difference.

I've noticed CR is slow to respond on some issues on weekends (no doubt because most of the staff is off). You may want to PM BasouKazuma if you don't get a response by tomorrow, but it would probably be Monday before he could get in touch with the proper person(s) to start getting the problem resolved.

Personally, I think they should give you an additional month free of premium service (at least) for calling this to their attention before the Roku starts hitting the UK and Ireland markets en masse.
