I'm just going to say that it royally sucks that you have to have a prem. membership to link your acct on crunchy to your roku.. It royally ticked me off ... if I had the money to be a prem memb, don't you think I'd just go and buy my anime instead of having to watch it here? I am one very unhappy person. but anyway... there is my feedback. other than that I love crunchy and I've been here for years and I'm always telling people to join ... just wish I could link my acct to my roku .. but oh well.. ^_^

Where do you see anything that indicates you can't link your Roku to your account unless you have premium?

Not only is there nothing to indicate that in the Roku FAQ or the message at the beginning of this forum, but check out a section from this message:

If you aren't able to see Bleach episodes 1-161, you should deactivate the link you made with Roku and then re-link your account to your Roku Box. That should give activate your premium access through Roku.

If you couldn't link a non-premium account, then how would someone have had their account linked before they purchased a premium membership? (Keep in mind BasouKazuma is an admin with CR, not some random user).

As to "if I had the money to be a prem memb, don't you think I'd just go and buy my anime instead of having to watch it here?", no, I don't. With $7 per month, you wouldn't be buying much anime. Even some of the least expensive on sale box sets would take you two months to afford with that meager amount.

I saw that when I went to the settings ( which I have a screencap if you'd like to see it.) and it said that basically that non paid membs link with andro and i.os and that was ALL that was listed.

As to what I said about buying my own anime.. If I own something I generally do not watch it somewhere else. There are TWO things I have watched online despite my owning them. and that was due to that fact they are en route to my current residence. In other words, Yes I would buy my own, now granted I was very annoyed when I posted that, and currently grieving on top of that.. technical issues was not something I needed as well. For my snappiness I do apologize.

As to linking before purchase, I don't know, but I am not that person or anyone else who has done it before me. I am Neko, but I've done what was suggested and it didn't work so I don't know what else to tell you other than it was easier to link my Pandora acct to my roku than crunchy.. it is what it is, for I all I know it could be my internet, but would you rather me post my frustrations and find out if its the internet, the roku or my acct, or sit and wish that I hadn't been a memb since '07? Still I do apologize for the attitude, there has been to much going on and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I offer my humblest apologies.

It looks like the VIA/Vizio app is hosed again.

Sket Dance episode 65 is about 10 days old now and it still hasn't shown up nor has the rest of this week's releases.

I would also like to mention that a glitch I reported more than a month ago still isn't fixed, namely that you can't search for anime from the via app by enterting the title.... only the description of individual episodes is searchable.

arylpremente: I would just be happy to be able to have a way to acess an account. While roku is finally getting a login, internet enabled tvs are still out in the dark.

I noticed the VIA thing too. It seems that episodes are now delayed by about 2 weeks instead of 1. The first episode of many new shows are just now becoming available as the 3rd episode is released here on the website. Disappointing.

I encountered this too when I was searching for YuruYuri and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Episodes can only be found by searching for words found in their description rather than the title of the show. Typing "yuru" or "yuri" only got me the 12th episode of the first season of YuruYuri and typing the full title only got me the first episode. I ended up having to browse each page until I found the show (on page 27). By typing in "madoka" I was able to get half of the episodes only because the main character's name is in half of the descriptions. Please fix the search function!

I would LOVE to have a log in option for my Vizio TV and HD streams would be much appreciated since I just bought a new big screen Vizio for my living room.

Another change I'd like to see in the VIA app would be to have the newest stuff on the front page so I don't have to go looking for it. And to have the Anime and Drama titles separated somehow. Right now everything is just tossed together randomly. It's very annoying. Please sort the shows in some way! Even alphabetical would be better than what we have now...

Unless there has been update since the news article in their blog, it was "Coming in late July/early August", which means it wouldn't necessarily be by the end of the month.

That said, I am hoping Funimation getting HD out there on the Roku will finally give CR the kick in the but it needs to start pushing out HD encodes for anime on the Roku. Frankly, it is a bit embarrassing that CR has been on the Roku for about 1.5 years, but they will be beaten to offering HD by a company that only started offering 720p on their website late last year. I only hope their Roku app works better than their website does.

Given that much of CR's resources are probably being put into getting ready to launch on the PS3, however, I feel it will likely be even longer before we see HD on the Roku, unless the encodes for the PS3 could somehow be re-purposed for the Roku.

The way to find a series is stupidly annoying. What you have to do is first find the series on the website and then use a bit of the description for episode 1 as your serach. The fact that you have to go to the website to get the description kind of defeats the purpose of being able to view the shows without a computer.

I've been playing "bug reporter" for about a year now and a lot of the problem with the show organization seems to be the author of the via "flingo" app and the cr staff "fighting" each other. The flingo guy says that cr's xml stream isn't formatted correctly and there's no way to organize things so he manually moves shows to an order he thinks is best. He used to put the current season's shows on the first few pages. The problem with that is he didn't pay close attention to the season lineup and always missed at least a couple shows.... they ended up on the very last page. He actually hasn't updated the order in a few seasons. CR has yet to fix the issues he mentioned. Their policy seems to be (at least from someone on the outside looking in) to report problems to him and ask him to fix them even though the problems often arise from their xml stream that after a year still isn't the way the flingo guy wants it or changing encoding formats and sub formats for the videos even though they already know of a combo that works well with via.

It seems to me that if an unoffiliated entity is nice enough to support your site, you should do things to suit them, not the other way around.

I mean I could be totally wrong, but juding by the official repies I've seen on the flingo website regarding cr's issues and the ones on this site this the the conclusion I gleamed.

That being said, the flingo "web videos" app leaves much to be desired anyway. Thumbnails, while definately nice, aren't always the best way to present a list, especially when it's a site like CR with so many series. I think they are good for once you've selected a series, but a list of a site's shows should probably be text based so you can fit more on a page. Also things would be so much simplier if the navigation arrows just looped around. Just as an example, Sket Dance has 6 pages of episodes now. Now they could reverse the order of the episdoes as you said, but then people new to the series would have a hard time. On the other hand, if the back arrow just went to page 6 when on the first page... problem solved.

I probably shouldn't be posting all of this on a public forum, but after a solid year of patiently waiting for CR to sort out their issues, it's still a rarity if more than a month or two goes by without some sort of glitch preventing users from accessing roku/via properly.

I didn't think of that, but it's very true. Those thumbnails are not very helpful to someone unfamiliar with the shows on Crunchyroll anyway. A simple list of titles would make things much easier. That looping navigation is a great idea too. I could get to the last couple of pages where most of the new stuff is just by navigating to the left!

I think it's important to make these problems known here so that the people running the website will take notice and hopefully fix them.

All these VIA problems could be fixed if they switched from flingo to a proper app like the one coming to Samsung TVs...

Still missing for PES Episode 4. Can't speak directly for smileyscout, but I had no problems seeing subtitles on Roku for SAO Episode 2 the other day.
