Are anime members discriminated against in the 1yr premium deal?

I bought the Black Friday deal when it went up. But I tried to watch a drama today, and it still has ads. Seems my monthly anime membership is blocking me from getting immediate access until it expires. That's still over a week away.

Netflix is able to do upgrades immediately, I don't see why Crunchyroll can't at least match that.

You should be able to easily upgrade using this page:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/upgrade_plan

Then you should be able to cancel the automatic renewal for your new monthly subscription of All-Access Membership from your Premium Membership Status page so that your 12 month subscription will activate after your 1 month subscription expires.
https://www.crunchyroll.com/acct?action=status

I'm not entirely sure if this will work as I think it will so, if anything goes wrong, just tell me and I'll manually fix it.

I already bought the upgrade. I though that Crunchyroll already took my money. But you are saying that Crunchyroll is refusing to deliver my service until something like 22 December?

Compare that to if I had never bought an anime membership, I would have been be able to enjoy the premium status immediately. Instead, to punish me for being an anime member and having already paid Crunchyroll over a hundred bucks so far, I have to wait almost a month.

Netflix does their upgrades immediately, which makes sense, because it encourages people to upgrade. I don't see why Crunchyroll has decided that it prefers to discourage existing members from upgrading.

You purchased a pre-paid subscription which starts after you current subscription ends so you don't end up losing days that you paid for. If you don't care to lose those days, I think I can activate your 12 months of All-Access Membership right now. Or you can follow the instructions I gave to potentially upgrade the remainder of your Anime Membership to All-Access Membership. Your choice.

But it only "loses days I paid for" because Crunchyroll decided to do it that way. I still paid for an upgrade to my service in late November and the service upgrade is still being withheld until late December. If I upgrade my Netflix service in the middle of a month, they mail out the new DVD(s) the next day.

I don't care about losing the twelve or thirteen days, given how incredibly cheap the Premium package was, but you still ought to note and pass on that your competitors do not find it necessary take away days already paid for in order to give immediate upgrades.

But right now it says I have an anime membership on a 360 day renewal, which is a bizarre halfway mix of my previous monthly anime membership and my pending one-off annual premium membership (unless, of course, I get a real job between now and next November).

If that is really and truly my anime membership, it ought to say less than 14 days. Aint no way in hell I am going to click a "cancel your membership" link next to a notice that may mean I am cancelling 360 days of service.

I was explained to me earlier this year that it is technically a 12 month membership (with each month being 30 days), rather than a 1 year (365 day) membership.

Its not the difference of five days that makes me chicken to click "cancel", its the fact that it is neither showing the membership I had, a one month Anime membership, nor the membership I bought, a 360 day Premium membership, but the access level from one and the duration of the other.

On a site that does not have the competence to offer an immediate upgrade, I am going to be confident that hitting "cancel" next to that weird mix will automatically start a 360 day Premium membership? Instead of sending the 360 Premium membership into the bit bucket in the sky, and leaving me able to only partly catch up to Otome Yokai Zakuro, and with ads at that?

No way, Jose. In the words of BasouKazuma, "I'm not entirely sure if this will work as I think it will."

If there was an option to cancel the balance of a one month anime membership, and it said there was a 360 day membership pending, I'd take the chance.

I refunded your latest month of Anime Membership and activated your All-Access Membership subscription. So everything should be fine now.
