Park Yoohwan receives a passing grade on acting debut



On January 28th, JYJ Yoochun’s younger brother, Park Yoohwan, made his acting debut through the first recording for MBC’s “Shiny Shiny Shining.”

Park plays the role of ‘Lee Seo Woo,’ an 18 year old bastard child of father ‘Han Ji Woong.’

His character is forced to more mature than his age due to his placement in the family tree, which puts him at a higher rank than some of his older relatives.

Behind the mature mask, however, lies a lonely child who has problems fitting in his peers because of the secrets surrounding his birth.



With the support of his brother, Park has been taking acting lessons for some time now in preparation for his first role. Producers of the show were especially satisfied with his progress and gave him a ‘passing mark’ for his debut.

Producers commented, “Park Yoohwan’s first character is a very emotional, complex, but unique character. He’s also one of the most important roles in the drama itself, and despite it being only his debut, he expressed the role impressively. He’s currently doing his absolute best in perfecting his character, so please look forward to his improvements in the future.”

The drama will begin airing on February 12th at 8:40 PM.

Sparkling / Shining held press conference



Ahead of its debut this Saturday night, Sparkling/ Shining held a press conference today at Imperial Palace Hotel, Gangnam Seoul.
As usual, all the main cast hit the stage : Kim Hyun Joo, Lee Yoo Ri, Kang Dong Ho, Kim Suk Hoon, Han Ji Woo and Park Yoo Hwan.
The planned 50 episodes family drama will tell story of Kim Hyun Joo as successful career woman who faces challenges in her life.
Sparkling also marks the debut acting of Park Yoo Hwan, the little brother of JYJ Micky Yoochun.

I think I'll marathon this drama after the story develops more. (30 episodes in or so) I want to see who the OTPs are first and where the plot is heading before I invest.

Bae Yoo Mi is one of my favorite screenwriters, but the first two episodes were a big turn-off.

I'll be following the viewer reactions on its soompi thread.

I've watched the first 2 episodes so far.
The 1st episode was confusing to me, and the characters from the 2 main actresses seemed so stupid.
The 2nd episode was not really better but I like where the story is heading, eventho it resembles some stories from previous dramas lol.
But I'll keep watching it, normaly a drama gets better with episodes.

I'm so hooked on this show now, I think about it all day! Does anyone know what the opening song is?
