I notice Crunchyroll is now listed as being available on the Vizio Internet Apps (VIA) platform:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/devices#vizio
That page only mentions TVs, but Vizio also has a number of VIA enabled Blu-ray players:

Does the VIA Crunchyroll app work on these as well?

Unfortunately we've never tested it on those devices (we only tested it on the TVs) but my guess is that it should work. However, I just can't make any guarantees.

P.S. If someone already has one of these VIA enabled Blu-ray players, please tell us if it works.

Update: I contacted Vizio's support and they said the app wasn't available through their Blu-ray players. Sorry.

Thank you for finding that out for me. I was planning on purchasing the VBR333 under the assumption that all VIA devices have access to the same selection of apps. I find it most unusual and unfortunate that Vizio would make certain apps exclusive to select VIA devices...

I stumbled upon this page while looking for more information on the VIA platform:
http://hubpages.com/hub/VIZIO-Internet-Applications-News-and-Review

The page does not list the Crunchyroll app, but it does list "Free Stream Media’s FlingoTV service". By clicking on that link and navigating to the "Partners" page I was able to find Crunchyroll:
http://www.flingo.tv/partners.html

I do not own a Vizio and seem unable to find much information on the VIA platform, but is it possible that Cruchyroll can be accessed through the FlingoTV app? If that is the case, perhaps the Vizio representative you spoke to was simply not aware that it was not a standalone app. Or perhaps it does appear as a standalone app on the televisions, but not on the Blu-ray players?

Sorry to bother you with so many questions, but I am planning on replacing my current Blu-ray player and it would be wonderful to have Crunchyroll on my television without having to buy a new HDTV or attach yet another device to it.

Hmmm, that is possible since we piggy back off of FlingoTV. I know very little and have never actually seen the service in action since we don't have easy access to a VIA enabled device. I was told FlingoTV made the app for us and not that FlingoTV itself was an app that featured our content. So I'll contact them again with the proper information.

Update: I contacted them again and they still said that the app wasn't available through their Blu-ray players.

I actually have the Vizio Blu-ray with internet applications. I couldn't find any way possible to access Crunchyroll. The player I have has Vudu as the third party vendor & I can't figure out a way to do it. If someone else can access, please let me know. I love my Vizio player. I would love it more if I could access Crunchyroll!

The Blu-ray version is called "Wireless Internet Apps", probably because not all of the VIA apps are available. I don't know how it's going to be for Android but it's possible that same situation could appear where some Vizio apps just aren't available.

You can try contacting them for non-speculative info:

I found the Crunchyroll site on my VIA-equipped Vizio HDTV, and it looks incredible, but it's still pretty useless as there appears to be no support for subtitles anywhere on the VIA interface. So it's great for Japanese speakers but not so much for those os us who require English subtitles. Not even sure who to contact to complain about this. Vizio? Flingo?

OK, in further inspections, a few of the series have subtitles that work on the Vizio, but not all. Seems fairly random - I guess some series are encoded differently from others? Naruto Shippuden has huge oversized subtitles that take up 1/2 the screen, The World God Only Knows has normal subtitles, and Yumeiro Patissiere and most of the others I've tried have none.

We've dedicated last month and this month to re-encoding all of our videos as well as fixing problems with these new encodes. Next month we'll probably start focusing more on the videos that still have problems.

We just recently got a VIA enabled TV so it will be easier for us to identify and fix these problems.

Wonderful! I'm really really happy to be able to stream Crunchyroll onto the HDTV instead of being limited to the computer, so I really hope this arrangement thrives.

So is there anywhere with a list of what will and will not have subs on the VIA app? I recently started watching Occult Academy on my Vizio and it was awesome but halfway through the subs stopped working and I had to use the website which I really don't like doing.

It would be nice if there was either a list of what will and will not work right or a time frame in which everything will be up and running the way it should be. I have a few things I would like to watch but I would prefer not to start them and then have to switch to the PC mid way through it's quite annoying.
