It would be pretty hard to make a season two unless they had new characters but I did see the ova and it was funny as hell

The whole premise of Angel Beats can potentially be an ongoing theme. At some point someone is going to recognize and buck the system and the rebellion begins anew. There may be better and more entertaining ways to use the Angel Beats program, but it can be redone with new characters.

there won't be a season 2, or it will take a long time considering it's success. but I would like one at least in some form.

the first season was really a waste of time. the characters had so much potential for development, but yet they didn't explorit on character development AT ALL. and the end was just so rand and yuri and kanade acted so out of character it was ridiculous. it felt like there was at least 13 episodes missing in this series.

shiina, TK, kanade, yuzuru, yuri, and hell, all the characters needed more character development. really angel beats almost failed for me in the end. having it to be 26 episodes would've made it one of the best animes in the recent years.

if there's a season 2, it should be a remake/alternate version of season 1. or have the blonde guy fight against yuzuru.

damn is this a waste of potential.

The next key production is probably going to be Little Busters before anything. Well, that's what I'm guessing.

I hardly doubt their is a second season because of the ending but you can read the manga which is about the prequel to the show.

Well in that case, both anime are similar to Gantz then.

I'd heard that KEY had originally planned for a 26 episode anime, but it got shortened to a 13, which explains why everything was really rushed and completely plot-driven. They did waste a lot of the episodes though. - More information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Beats!#Anime_production

A second season of Angel Beats! would completely ruin the ending set out by the first season. The theme of it will be all off, because Otonashi and Kanade is in the living world.

An alternate version of Season 1 would probably be very bad, because it was totally wrapped up at the ending. Even though Key is a visual Novel company, and is good at making alternate endings, unless they make it completely different from the first season, from the very first episode, nobody will want to watch it.

A remake/remastery of it will be too soon. The only things that get remade are very popular old anime, e.g. the possibly upcoming Rurouni Kenshin, or anime where they run out of budget and couldn't finish properly, e.g. Evangelion. If I am wrong, send me some examples.

A possible suggestion would be to do a Haruhi, and insert episodes within the first season, so that it becomes a 26 episode anime, but that probably wouldn't work very well, because, unless they remake the ending so that the characters actually disappear during their individual arcs, e.g. Like Iwasawa (the first singer).

FinalIy, I totally agree that it was a waste of potential.

I.thought of one that appears to be very germane to the discussion at hand:

Kanon

Original: January 31, 2002 – March 28, 2002 (13 episodes)
Remake: October 5, 2006 – March 15, 2007 (24 episodes)

Note the episode count: Shorter first series, longer remake, which would fit well with what you discussed.

Note the year gap between the productions.

I did. It was one year less than the gap between FMA and FMA: Brotherhood.

I certainly was making no claim that a remake, if it happened, would occur soon. I was specifically addressing your request for examples that didn't fit the "very popular old anime" or "anime where they run out of budget" criteria. I doubt Kanon (2002) was much more popular in its day than Angel Beats (certainly not as much as FMA), and at the time of its remake, was certainly not old. I also do not believe the original series ran out of budget, either.

It should also be noted that Key did the original visual novel and manga of Kanon.

I see. And yes, I forgot about FMA.

FMA was remade because the ending of the original anime was completely off from the manga. Brotherhood followed the manga completely. (I'm sure you already know, but just so other people reading the thread know.) It was also very popular. I think. Not too sure.

It should also be noted that while Key made both the original Visual Novel of Kanon and the original script and concept of Angel Beats!, Kanon was already made with the seperate and alternate endings, which the anime studio used to significantly expand the anime, i.e. He solves more girl's problems.

They planned to do that ending from the start of angel beats, but instead didn't have enough time in 13 episodes to do everything they wanted to, so cut out a lot of character building and plot development from the anime. NOTE: They said that the following light novels and manga series would contain the things that they cut out, so they do already have the material they need.

I suppose that if they did follow the script without changing, but just cut straight to the chase (which would explain why Kanade and Yuri acted so out of character at the end), then they could just do a Haruhi and insert episodes into the season, which I stated above.

Note that there was also a "huge" graphic difference in Kanon 1 and 2 (named for convenience). The director and team which made the original most likely thought they could make a much better job of it with their now improved skills, and the studio allowed them to. So even if they didn't run out of budget, they knew that they could improve storyline, character development, and graphics if they did a remake. And they did.

EDIT: I thought you were talking about a remake being soon because everyone else on the thread is having expectations of it.
