I think visual novels are quite fascinating. : ) They generally have good stories and the art is beautiful! ^_^ I've downloaded a few fan-made and/or not well known ones, since they are the only ones I can get my hands on...some of the big-name titles get so much attention that when they're done with translating it, they're DONE. They don't even bother creating alternate downloads so deprived MAC USERS such as yours truly could take a whack at 'em. Most of these are for PC, and when they're translated, they stay for PC. (i.e. I doubt there will ever be a Mac translation for Clannad. :' 0) If I'm wrong, please correct me. Actually, I'd be entirely satisfied if I'm wrong this time...

I have played some that are actually available such as the ones from Dan Kim, but pretty much all of the ones I want to play are either hard to get, not translated, fans haven't translated them yet (or are still working on it), are hard to find for download online, there are no english patches for it, or are hentai (pretty much all of them are, damnit).
I've seen sites that have fans joining together to sub some eroge visual novels such as School Days, but it's soo hard to find some for download from somewhere like a torrent or zip file off of MegaUpload. The ones I want to play the most are: Kanon School Days Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru Saya no Uta And many, many others that I forgot the names of. Honestly, I don't care if they are eroge, it's just that I would have to hide it and play it when my dad is out of the house, which would be annoying. |

I loooove visual novels! They're soo awesome.
I only played the translated ones though, my Japanese isn't good enough yet. But someday I hope that I can play the games in Japanese as well. I also play the more pervy ones, kinda weird, since I'm a woman, but as long as the story is good, I don't care. Besides, women are pervy as well o__O. Well, I'm not, but..aw, whatever. |

Guess BL games also count as "visual novels". Err... I think they do.
Anyway, I've only played 2 by Nitro+ CHiRAL: Togainu no Chi (which has to be one of my favorite yaoi stories) and Lamento ~Beyond the Void (which I played because it was so highly recommended... but never really liked it. Catboys aren't really my thing). My brother is a real fanatic of visual novels, though, and he's played quite a few (hmm, over 20, maybe?). I always complain with him about his games having language patches and the such, while I have to stick to my extremely basic Japanese to figure out what's going on in the story - or to figure out what the options are. Hate it when 8 options pop up all of a sudden and I've got no idea what I'm being prompted to do... |
