At the forefront of the team is the impulsive and hotheaded detective Park Se Hyuk and the cold, commanding police chief, Jung Il Do. Park Se Hyuk's passion for his work and rough personality results in a tendency to take action first before thinking later, in contrast with Jung Il Do's by-the-book style. However, his greatest weapon is an instinctive knowledge of a criminal's tricks and mental workings that he gained from his father, the legendary thief, and his own childhood in the streets. Together with the other members of a special team formed to catch Lupin, a notorious burglar, he juggles work with his own personal quest to find his father and confront his older brother, a crooked detective.

Actor Song Il-gook turns detective in new drama

Actor Song Il-gook will return to the small screen as the main lead in a new action drama set to air late next month, announced the drama's promoter YTREE MEDIA on Wednesday.

According to YTREE's press release yesterday, Song was cast in the upcoming KBS drama whose tentative title can be translated into "Crime Squad", scheduled to go on air starting February 28, after current series "Dream High" ends its run.

Song will play a detective with a traumatic past who has good intentions but is short-tempered and is ready to go any length to get his hands on criminals.

An official of the drama production team said that some of the episodes of the drama will depict on cases based on real-life crimes that made headlines last year.

"The drama is full of brave, passionate characters who have a strong sense of duty and are ready to take down any case", Song was quoted as saying in the statement.

"The character I play may be hot-headed and has trouble containing his temper but at the same time, is quite ordinary and good in heart like every else. I find that contrasting quality charming and this is how I wish to show the other side to myself".

Separately, actor Kim Seung-woo will play the boss of Song's character to tell of the rivalry between the two men in their department.

Song, 39, rose to stardom with KBS drama "Emperor of The Sea" in 2004 after debuting as 27th class of MBC's actors in 1998.

He has since starred in other hit dramas including "Jumong" (MBC, 2006), "Lobbyist" (SBS, 2007), "Land of wind" (KBS, 2008), "A Man Called God" (MBC, 2010) and appeared as main lead in the 2005 film "The Art of Seduction".

The co-actors are...

Left: Kim Jun (Boys Over Flowers) will play Shin Dong (translation TBD), a homophobic (fear of blood), necrophobic (fear of corpses, death or dead things) cyber investigation expert with a very un-predictable personality.

Seong Ji-roo (he played Maria's father in the 2007 drama Lobbyist) will play a witty detective who is mastered in disguise and under-cover, and will make use of any skills/methods (even if dirty) to solve crimes.

Right: Senior Actor Jang Hang-seon will play Kwon Chi-mu (translation TBD), an experienced detective and a father-like figure for Park Se-yuk.

Song Ji Hyo Back to Small Screen after 4 Years with ‘Crime Squad’

Following T-Max’s Kim Joon (Boys Over Flowers), Korean actress Song Ji Hyo has been also added to the cast of upcoming action-investigation drama tentatively called ‘Crime Squad’. That means it would be her comeback drama in 4 years after 2007’s mega-hit sageuk drama ‘Jumong’.

Song will portray the role of Cho Min Joo, an intern reporter who works with Park Sae Hyuk (played by Song Il Gook). Her character is described as a warm and bright woman with a strong will to carry on her living, yet she is actually a lonely person in heart. She is also a humanist who is tender to the weak and strong to the strong.

‘Crime Squad’ also starring Kim Seung Woo (IRIS), Song Il Gook (Jumong, A Man Called God), Sun Woo Sun (Will it Snow at Christmas?), and Park Sun Young (Sons of Sol Pharmacy House, Winter Bird), is schedule to start airing on February 28, following ‘Dream High’.

Homicide Cast First Script Reading

The cast of Homicide (for the time being, I will stick to this title) held their first script reading recently. With the first episode airing on Feb 28th, looks like the production will soon airs ‘live’.

Song Ji Hyo goes for a short haircut

Actress Song Ji Hyo recently chopped her beautiful long hair off and went for a short cut.

In her upcoming drama “Homicide Division,” she will play Jo Min Joo, an energetic and optimistic intern. In order to fit her character better, she decided to cut her hair. It looks like she is fully ready to step into the role as she let go of something that she has had for a long time.

Song Ji Hyo stated, “It felt awkward at first because I haven’t cut my hair in so long but I’m very satisfied with it now. I think cutting my hair has given me a new resolution, I want to do my best in the new drama.”

Homicide re-takes poster shoot

Homicide production team didn’t want to waste time.

After announced the withdrawal of Kim Seung Woo who is substituted by Lee Jong Hyuk, yesterday they held first script reading with Lee Jong Hyuk and re-took poster shoot. The new poster showed more cast, and in more interesting looks.
Just as the drama itself tells story of the work of police detectives solve crimes, the poster shows the cast all in action.

Lee Jong Hyuk as the police chief is sitting in his chair, Song Ji Hyo as reporter holding a camera, Song Il Gook as hot tempered detective standing in a rebel vibe, Sun Woo Sun and Kim Joon as police detective are investigating crime scene.
The poster also features another cast : Park Sun Young, Sung Ji Roo and Jang Han Sun.

A refreshing and exciting poster compared to the old one. Great poster, brings us more curious with the drama !
Homicide debuts March 7.
