No.
So, if my parents didn't get a computer until they were 37 years old, and I got mine's when I was 11 years old, its considered spoiled?

You can't blame the kids and parents, it's the technology these days which spoils a kid.

They have babies that poop and piss. Back in my day we would buy water babies and poke a hole in it's peewee area so it would piss. Huge mistake, it wouldn't stop pissing.

They have video games and plasma screens. When I was a kid a 15 inch screen was considered HUGE and you were lucky if you owned a Nintendo.

Kids can stay out after school longer since they have a cell phone to keep in contact with their parents. When I was small, I had to be home before sunset and couldn't pass 8 blocks past my school or else I'd get whipped, so they can keep track of where I was and with who.

To be honest with you, if I had a kid. I'd get him or her all the things I didn't have as a child. I used to walk home by myself in the 1st grade. I can't tell you how many times I got lost since I would get distracted. It would have been nice to have a cell to call home. But no, instead I would run around for hours trying to find my way back, then get whipped since I would come home late for getting lost.

I beg to differ here, parents in this day and age don't want to be parents so they look for any quick fix to find out their responsibility of raising their kids. I know some that is personally doing this and i really wish i could do something about it since her kids are already messed up but hey I am a nobody after all lol. I do agree on the technology end somewhat heck we grew up with near the same identical things but what pisses me off is fact that kids throw away anything now instead of getting fixed, because they have the mind set that mommy or daddy will re-place it. Again I am speaking from personal experience on that one, one of my co-workers got a brand new ipod touch "this was few years ago mind you" but still the kid only had it for 2 weeks she couldn't get the thing to work anymore so the kids bright idea was to throw it away. Now if that was my kid I would have beat her ass but again that's me >_>

I have to agree. Blaming electronics for spoiling kids is like blaming video games for violence. This comes down to parents taking responsibility for what their kids do. Technology was created to open doors and move us further ahead, yet people take advantage of it everyday.

If you resided in the US and were a male 18 yrs of age, barring a legit exemption or escape to Canada, you faced conscription by the armed forces to fight and possibly die: '60's and '70's. It wasn't all drugs and free love back then. Today the armed forces are volunteer.

The pill was slowly being accepted by the mass population during the '60's and its use was increasing. Today, it seems contraception is a natural part of the ebb/flow of life as fun/recreation versus nuclear family creation. The word "pregnant" spoken in a movie back in 1959 was pushing the boundaries of censorship. There was a lot of discussion if this word could even be used. Now....

Religion appears to be less an influence now re life choices than in the past. Life choices: women have more choice than ever. In the '20's-'50's there were few: nursing, teaching, married raising children.

Safer vehicles, more techno gadgets than ever before. Better medicine and health care than previous generations although eventual gov't control will change this for the worse IMHO.

Flying in a commercial airplane used to be fun. Now, it sucks. In the '30's access to other parts of the country took longer: days instead of hours.
Fuel access and distribution nationwide is the best it's ever been. It only took oil companies and entrepreneurs 60 yrs. to achieve this.

A few decades ago kids and tweens rode public transportation or a bicycle. Today, same group gets parents or well-off friends to get about.

Military industrial complex larger, more powerful than ever in spite of BS TV networks might hint at. Newspapers are going way of the dinosaur.

Every new generation enjoys more advantages than the previous although comparing the next gen's standard of living in the US may get worse for the first time in 70 years. I also notice more emphasis on social inter-networking to get anything accomplished versus the respect for the individual, can do spirit that prevailed 40 yrs ago.

Less individual privacy and privacy rights than ever before. Less respect for treating the governed people as individuals than '60-80's. Less freedom of choice than 30 yrs ago: not all parents are good parents but those that were didn't have to contend with DivFamilyServices or some other mettling quasi-governmental agency telling them how to live or raise their children IMHO.

Oh dear.
It's called evolution my friends.
Every generation will always witness the slight progress of the ones after them. Wether it be good or bad, it's a process you shouldn't waste any feelings on, as there's no way you can control a consumers impulse or an inventors prowess.

Pretty sure that depends on how much cash you got floating around.. and like everyone.. even the old farts back in their day... if you had a shit load of money you would just buy a newer, better one, kind of like with a microwave.
Everyone I know gets their computer fixed though as its so fucking expensive to replace, but if its an old piece of shit you would be stupid not to buy a better one if half your life is spent on it.
This generation obviously is in the age of technology.
It's a way of life... not everyone being spoiled.

Fair is fair though... it all depends on the family.. some kids get everything they want.... thats fucking spoiled. A 10-13 year old getting a $500 smart phone is spoiled... a laptop for school work or anything isn't as it creates productivity (and an in-site to the world of porn if the parents are complete retards)
The ones that work hard for what they want aren't spoiled. Parents need to teach their children about hard work and rewards. The ones that don't know anything always get loans and are stuck with dept when they move out... this world really is turning stupid x.x

yes I think so
out of all the ppl of my age I know
99.9999% of them has a phone
75% of them has a laptop
90% of them have an iPod of any version
30% of them have an iPhone of any version
most of them have one or many game consoles

do kids really need that much?
for me, I only have a phone and a laptop, which I'm very content with
I mean my phone has a big storage so I won't need an iPod
I don't need game consoles to keep myself entertained

most kids just want them because they're a hype; they're gonna get bored by them some time soon

Oh god,you have no idea how fucking idea how happy I was when I just got my NES.And Nes was pretty outdated when I got it.I was about 13-14 years old,and NES was released before I was born. Now this kids have Iphone,Laptops,Xbox,PS2,PSP so many fucking new technologies. The kids here have a fucken good life. You know when I was young,I used to never be able to go out and just have fun.I can just tell I'm gonna be a parent spoiling his kids.I swore that I would give my kids whatever I didn't have in the past. And my parents got sick badly when I was just 15,and i had to take care of them. They died when I was 16,so if I'm gonna have kids,I'm gonna have them fast, maybe 5 years from now?

yeah 8P from what I have seen, I see this kids with so much electronics >.> too this day I still own no cell phone, the only thing I had was an Ipod touch 8P, when I was 12 I never had any of that, I never had alot of stuff I see younger kids have today and most of the stuff I do own like my games and ect, I got those with my own earned money. I got my first very own game system when I was 14 and it was a gamecube, something I have wanted since it first came out I was very happy and greatful my mother got it for me =3 such a fun X-mas it was playing my own system, not any one else's but my own. my smaller cousin for instance is pretty spoiled. she has a shit load of toys and barbies, has an Mp3 player, a Nintendo DS, her own TV, all these other toys you can think of, I never had any of that except barbies and my little ponies until I reached my mid to late teens

I'm sorry if this makes me sound like an ass, but if you own a computer that is over 5 years old, buying a new one is infinitely better than trying to fix the old one.
