Hell yes.
Today's parents, at least a lot of them nowadays, seem to want children without having to take care of them. SO giving them all of this new tech and everything is their way of preoccupying their children so that they can spend time away from them. Which is probably why you can find four year olds on xbox live playing Black ops or Halo swearing it up. And here's the best part... The parents are either not around or don't seem to give a shit.

Add those new books that read to the children as they point a pen on the words too, so the parent never has to be there to help their child learn to read. Talk about sad.

Yes, we all are too spoiled. We should be hunting for wild boars right now, but we're on our computers, replying to this forum.

The noise might just be the fan. And you could easily upgrade it. Is what he's probably trying to say.
Also as any computer enthusiast will say, Never send your computer for repair since most tend to overprice and do nothing. Well then again, I know how to fix my own computer so I save myself the trouble of going to my cousin to fix my computer.

I don't really know what it was. A couple of years ago it wouldn't turn on at all, and we sent it to repair; after like a month later they returned it with the annoying noise. They could've just told me they couldnt' do anyting about it

I was the first person in my family to get a cell phone, and that didn't happen till i was 18 and could sign my own contract. My family has always been behind on technology. I remember when a neighbor down the street got an atari and he brought it over to my house. I thought pong and pitfall was the coolest thing ever lol.

YES! And you wanna know why? Marketers whore themselves out to children who bug the bajesus out of their parents for this and that and not wanting to bother with them or discipline them the parents indulges in the child! And it works because a parent can't discipline their child without getting arrested because people can't mind ther own friggin' buisness and call the cops when a person simply spanks a child! And in turn the child and parents both fall into a habbit that turns the child into a spoiled tartbag.

There's also what's called "getting older younger" in which markters are turning to younger audiences to sell products, heck, it was them that created the word "tween" (WTH is a "tween" anyway? What happened to just being a "kid" until you were thirteen?). And young, dumb parents who buy into their bullcrap.

There's also the issue that parents just don't want to bother with the kids and leave the ipod.phone//Xbox to babysit the kid! You know, giving kids toys that play with themselves is BAD for them!

I remember just having a Barbie or Ariel doll and being happy! All I needed was a few clothes and some imagination! I used to actualyl go outside, these days when I walk around it's scary quiet in the neighborhood...where are the kids!? And besides, I was the "you didn't need this kid," which is why I didn't get what kids today do, for me it was "no," "you don't need this," and "you'll kill youself with that because we live on a hill!" (Which is why I never got any ride-ins like Barbie jeeps...) And I didn't get a phone until I was thirteen (I've had it for four years) and didn't get an ipod until fourteen, which I also still have.

In conclusion: kids today are NOTHING but mareting pawns, and blame falls on the companies and parents. Companies just need to STOP and parents need to start RAISING their children, as in taking them outside, playing imagination games, and NOT letting the computer/phone/TV/whatever babysit!

(Sorry for the rant, but I feel very strongly on this subject.)

I too am generally 'spoiled' but only get things at Christmas and my Birthday and sometimes a small thing here and there. Usually if I really want something I buy it myself and if I don't have the money I just don't need it. And your friend...geez, can we say, "Daddy's Girl"? I admit to being one, as I've always spent more time with my father then my mother, but I never do that, if my parents say "no" I just shrug and save the money and that's it. She's lucky I ain't her friend of I'd go off on her and tell her people have worse things to worry about than getting the latest handbag.

I'm not really aware of what's going on with the general population as far as spoiled.

Some of you seem to be saying that having a phone, a computer, and a way to play music is spoiled... a phone for safety purposes (just no internet or web and monitoring the calls or restricting the numbers to only 911, school, parents, family), a computer because schools are requiring work be done on computers at younger ages - although there could be a FAMILY computer instead of a personal laptop, and my family had tape players and radios and weren't spoiled, so I don't think it's that bad for a kid to have a relatively cheap mp3 player (cheap since kids tend to break things). As far as having lots of the latest greatest technology and getting new things right as they come out and replacing them before it's necessary, yeah, that's spoiled - but from what I've seen, that exists the same as it did when I was younger, just replace a thing or two with technology. Parents who spoil their kids now probably would've spoiled their kid a couple decades ago.

I'm poor, so my son won't be getting spoiled with anything but love, time, and affection, and I won't be spoiling myself either because I need to save up for important things and pay bills.

I think attitude is important. If you or your child is grateful, makes good use of what you have, has strong values, bla bla bla... then it shouldn't matter what they have. I also think it's important that the parent is in control and says NO and doesn't always give in.

I don't have any kids, but a lot of my friends do, and I don't know if they're spoiling their kids or if they don't know how to say no to their kids. Some of them can barely afford groceries, but they have the whole family on the fanciest wireless plan available, etc. I don't get it. It's as if people can't prioritize their wants from their needs, and I'm talking about the adults, not the kids...
