Two days ago, I've been chatting with Slowdanse (Mod of this site) and her friends on Twitter about anime shows. She asked what's our least favorite anime and one of her friend mentioned that Wedding Peach is a rip-off of Sailor Moon, and for that, I was thinking to create a new topic here.

A ripoff is a blatant or unscrupulous copy or imitation.

I could only name a few shows here 'cause I'm still noob in anime world.
Combatler V - ripoff from Voltes V in different models and characters.
Dear Boys - Slam Dunk.
Duel Master - Yu-Gi-Oh!
Ikki Tousen - Tenjho Tenge.
K-On! - ripoff from Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad in female version.
Lucky Star - Azumanga Daioh. It might be.
Hungry Heart and Captain Tsubasa. IDK which one is a rip-off.

Let's get started.

Wasn't Voltes V a sequel to Combattler V?

Mm. Not to be argumentative or anything, but wikipedia (yeah, I know) lists original broadcast of Combattler from 17 April 1976 to 28 May 1977, and Voltes from 4 June 1977 to 25 March 1978.

Your point's still valid, though, regardless of which way around it is. Even though they can get away with it a fair bit because it's a sequel of sorts (in my mind, a ripoff is more if you're ripping off someone else's work) they were still really similar.

...but then if you start calling every series with a 5 man team who combine into one giant robot and fight evil monsters a ripoff you're looking at quite a lot of shows.

Bakugan - not a rip-off

The gameplay style is different.

Just because you see the word "TCG anime/manga series flash before you guys, there is something you should be well aware of. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Sure, they may have similar elements. But they are essentially different in nature

Yu-Gi-Oh! = Deals in Trap Card and Magic Cards to enhance your human/monster Cards

---

Bakugan

(1) Monster + Ability card = Enhancement.
(2) Monster + Ability Card + mini add-on = boost in power

At least Azumanga is hillarious XD
That one me LOL.
LS just made me smile :P

Many of the new animes from the winter season feel familiar.
It`s like the manga/anime creators have lost their creativity.

Oh wait, Azumanga came first, so you ment that LS is a rip-off of Azumanga :P
(I don`t get good enough sleep nowadays :P)

If LS is a rip-off, they did a bad job at it hehe.

I really dont see how the majority of animes can be considered a blatant rip off.

Any anime that involves card games is probably a rip off from Yugioh.

And probably every Mecha anime is ripped off from Gundam

But other than those two...I dont see how all other anime are ripped off from anything. Just because something takes place during a school, happens to be a comedy, involves an all female cast....does not make it a rip off of anything

That's not true, by your definition than is every fighting anime ripoff of DB ? No that's not true and also mecha IS an genre of anime, so code geass and gurren Lagann are not ripoff if gundam

I can't say many anime are rippers since most are unique

But digimon I guess off of pokemon. I thought it was the other way around before because it had a 100 times better plot, and was entertaining unlike the drag on and on pokmn

You obviously misunderstood what I said.

"I really DONT see how the majority of animes can be considered a blatant rip off"

Card games came from Yugioh.

Mecha animes probably came from Gundam.

Other than those two...I dont see how anything can be a rip off.

I dont see Fairy Tail being a rip off from DB or anything.....Im only talking about the obvious of the obvious ones
