Tokyo Stock Exchange chasing new ventures
The Tokyo Stock Exchange has held a seminar for venture companies in an effort to boost their listings on the market.
About 100 firms took part in the seminar in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Officials from the Exchange briefed them on a plan to ease regulations by March to better facilitate new listings.
Against the backdrop of dwindling stock transactions in the country, the number of new listings on Japanese markets plunged to just 22 last year -- only 10 percent of the peak years.
Many Japanese firms are now considering listing their shares on robust markets in other parts of Asia with an eye to exploring business opportunities there.
After Wednesday's seminar, one company official told NHK that the deregulation will make new listings easier. He said he hopes the market will make further efforts to clear the way for the listing of ventures.
