Has Crunchyroll Weakened As A Community?
Posted 1/20/11
Well, back when i originally signed up in '07 it seemed crunchyroll was a very active and lively enviroment the threads got constant veiws and replys you could come and discuss and expect a reply and the former chat was also a place to come to talk.

But since the taking down of the chat and user page it seems all that has changed most forums are dead and theirs little to none traffic as a community now adays

Although I haven't been here as long (since 2009), lately it seems people have been putting up the "QUIT CR FOREVER" more often than not. A lot of groups and forums are inactive, with mods that never seem to make an appearance. Of course, there are exceptions, which I am hugely thankful for the people who keep groups and such running.

I've been a member since October 2006, just as the CR craze started, and it was a real online community. Everyone knew each other, people made friends with similar interests through threads, and everyone knew who the mods were, and the mods were active.

Heck, I've made some friends here who are now real-life friends. I wouldn't imagine doing that these days.

I've only recently come back to CR for a browse. I stopped when Crunchyland was introduced. I've noticed a signifigant amount of repeat threads and groups in my travels, which never would've happened in my day. ::old::

The forums are really hard to navigate too. I can't seem to find the latest threads. I also miss Chat. I couldn't find the chat at first because the link was obscurely placed.

Maybe Shinji will pick up on all these things and decided to run a proper forum community again?

Definitely. The communtiy has really nothing to hold my interest, but the simulcasts/anime are pretty amazing, so I'm staying for that.

Well, I've been on this website since 2006 but I got an actual account (this one) in 2008. I guess its less crowded nowadays, but its still a good place to watch anime and talk to people.

Yes. D: It's because people don't like things that are legal.

There's still a shitload of people. That hasn't changed. More people are joining everyday. You just aren't aware of it since the forums and chat are dead. There's a huge chunk of people that come only for the media. They don't bother posting regularly on the forums or bother going into the chat. So yeah, the community is kinda dead :/
Like someone said above, I think it's because it's hard to navigate around the forums. There's too many options unlike 3 years ago when everything was listed in one page, and the chat link was visible.

Could have sworn there was a thread like this.

Meh, I'm just here for the legal anime.

As for a community people have to want to make one.

For a while I thought there was something on Extended Discussion but one single intellectual bully who thinks he's some champion of justice has made it not worth checking out (for me anyway) for a long time.

Threads like these pop up now and again and frankly, it's annoying.
I was first introduced to CR in 07, and as much as I liked the way it was I accept its changes just the same.
If there's nothing I dislike more it's when people complain about the past, my advice is to either get over it or leave.

What kippu and everyone else said is right , I think the worst time for crunchyroll to lose all their members was when cr went legal. I think the community is still growing, and I am glad I can be a part of it. I think we have reached crunchyroll's goal already. Which was the original theme of the site that crunchyroll is still going by "free" now I know what your saying paying a membership is not free but your the ones supporting the free episodes for everyone else and makes our site the one of the legal places to watch anime.

The people who "QUIT CR FOREVER" leave crunchyroll will comeback.... they always do.

P.S : I remember coming here into Cr because of the daily uploads of music. In the wonderful , glorious , magnificent music section. Oh how I miss you so , please come back.

When was Crunchyroll ever close knit to be considered a community? I must have missed this.

Most forums (not just CR) seem less active these days. Maybe people are just bored of them.

...from strangers whose faces you've never seen.
