What Do you Love/Hate About Crunchyroll
Posted 1/24/11
i'm just curious of what people Love or Hate about Crunchyroll...

What i Love about crunchyroll is to able to Watch Anime and it's very fast no need to buff the video..

What i hate about crunchyroll is some of the Anime (like Fairy Tail) videos will only be available on Crunchyroll for 30 days from the date of its initial airing... so i can't rewatch the anime that i want to watch again..

I love the crunchyroll forums and community.

Hate the crunchyroll members who like to hold on to the past , I hate how they got rid of the epic music section where music video's can be posted daily.

Pros:

- Offers streams from a variety of anime for little to no cost
- Has working agreements with studios in Japan
- Fairly responsive to troubleshooting issues when they come up
- Has a community area where people with similar interests can congregate

Cons:

- Variety of anime offered is limited to select series
- Anime offered doesn't last indefinitely
- Occasionally old or no-longer-hosted series have broken links / non-existent links

Neutral Points:

- It costs money to create and distribute anime / drama / etc...
- CR has done everything it has apparently under perfectly legitimate means

Further Note:

- Broken / nonexistent links, when found, could be fixed and point to an appropriate store or location to obtain more information about the context. For example, if an anime is no longer hosted due to legality or funds, summary / description / etc should remain for the series and link to merchandise / stores where the anime can be sold. Possible complications: translation may not always be available.

Why would you want it in English? This is something I've never understood. For me, I prefer everything in original language with subtitles available in your native language. No, it's not because I love Japanese, though I do.

The movie "Life is Beautiful" aka La Vita E Bella is one of absolute favorite movies. I had only seen it in Italian with English subtitles over and over. One day, it was on TV in English, and was fucking terrible. So much was "missing" and not the same and not as good.
I feel the same about animes... I had been watching Death Note at home in Japanese, and one day I went to work and it was on TV in English and it was just completely butchered. If I remember correctly, there might have even been differences in music.
I really feel like a lot is lost and changed in the process, and it's hard to get a good, acceptable English dub, the exception being many of the majorly funded movies that are dubbed.

You have to remember that some people have a hard time keeping up with the subs. My wife is one. I like sharing the time I watch anime with her. It is the same with DVD's most of mine have Eng. & Jap. language as well as subs. I started studing Jap. lang a month ago because of the crappy subs some people do. It was said many years ago " a lot was lost in translation"

Pros:
--Diversity. We have people from all over the world here in one big community. Each with different beliefs, ideas, and hobbies.
--The forums.
--Pulse.
--Anime.

Cons:
--as a few people have already mentioned, people who complain about the old CR.
--some anime is deleted 30 days after the final episode.
--that the majority of the fans here have no sense of reality.

Hates:

-The social drama.

-How Shinji removed the toolbar. (And the group chat)
-The people who won't stop saying how much they miss the old Crunchyroll.
-People complaining about fillers. (Just read the damn manga!!!!!)
-How there are some anime that I am dying to watch but are not here.
-And the perverts. (Met one here last year. FUCKING HATE HIM.)
-Oh and I kinda mentioned it already, but there are lots of CR Users who's profiles are filled with sex and- ...you get the point. -.-

I honestly miss Crunchyroll's old pay-per-download service. You see, it's because I don't really like streaming media... Also, I found it much more convenient than Funimation's paid video on demand service, and a decent alternative to iTunes, Playstation Store, and Zune Marketplace.
