can reading too much magazines be bad for you?
Posted 1/26/11
along time ago a few friends and I had a talk about reading woman's health magazines such as Cosmo >.> and ect ya know, the typical chick mags that give advise about relationships, sex, dating, friendship and embarrassing stories and bla bla bla well anywho we all wondered if reading them too much could be a bad thing for the way we'd look at things, like when I was going through this stage thinking that everything these magazines had too say about men and how they think were always true(thank god im out of that stage XP) I used to obsess about the way I looked, because of reading an article about a man who cheated on his wife because she was "fat" and the other women was "a knock out" and I used too always wonder what my boyfriends in the past thought in the back of his mind and if it was about stuff I didnt need too be thinking about xP it was bad along time ago that friends would tell me that I really need to stop believing everything this paper book is telling me(and this came all from guy friends) after they got there point across too me by even giving me proof that not all the shit is says about men are accurate, I stopped obsessing (was really young at the time so its all over now 8P)

what do you guys think? can reading too much articals and shit in magazines be bad for you?

It's all good fun and a way to pass the time on the crapper. But if you take everything some of the more "news worthy" (i.e. people, cosmo, etc.) magazines publish then you may possibly end up with an odd view of reality. (Plus an idiotic obsession on celebrities whose personal lives we shouldn't give a shit about ) You need to be able to read what some of those magazines say and then go to another source to verify all of the details. I can't trust many media sources to tell the whole truth these days. (I read Game informer btw)

I read the Australian FourFourTwo magazine. It is brilliant. I buy it every month while waiting for the bus to school!

NOO! I think it expands your MIND!! As you read your getting better reading skills.
Depending on what you read you could learn something new and interesting.

Reading a magazine is better than a LONG ASS BOOK!
or not reading at all.

depends on your mind's capacity to filter the bullshit you're reading.

established magazines have a tendency to make up facts as they go along. like when i read cosmopolitan and see an article about kinky stuff. who the hell in their right mind would hold ice in their mouths and give their boyfriend a frosty cone? seriously? come on.. people will get injured if you tried most of the stuff they write.

i'm generally a cynic so when I came across an article that is questionable i'm like: yeah right! i'm so gonna google that!

sometimes i'd rather read the tabloids like weekly world news at least they're entertaining and I don't need to google stuff just to prove it's bullshit.

XD when they suggested sexting, I knew that was some bullshit asking for trouble, and when they suggested "rubbing the man's testicles with a Popsicle" I laughed
