I Netflix'd "The Expendables" on Friday morning and then saw "The Expendables 2" in the theatre... four hours straight of adrenaline and testosterone, haha.

I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, both movies were well made and well written. The characters were as memorable - if not more memorable - than the action sequences, which is always a plus. Secondly, while there was a significant lack of female characters in the first movie, it wasn't your typical "tits and ass" fest (with exception to one scene with Mickey Rourke). Of course, both actresses in the first movie were "supermodel" types, but I do respect the absence of gratuitous sex and female objectification in both films. The second film did have a strong female character in Maggie (Nan Yu) who 1) wasn't used as eye candy, 2) wasn't a love interest, and most importantly 3) KICKED ASS.

Definitely entertaining and great character-driven action films!

The Dark Knight Rises. I wasn't expecting a thinly-veiled version of the French Revolution, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

LOL nice very nice and I agree

Did you know some people are trying to compare parts of it to the "Occupy" movement? FFS a comparison like that makes my head ache.

The Guns Of Navaronne today on TCM.

I saw Good Will Hunting. Can't believe I never watched that classic before. It's great if you can filter out the excessive F-bombs throughout. I highly recommend it. After viewing it, I highly recommend that you go to the IMDB page and take a look at the trivia for the movie, you will be so surprised!

The Raid. Loved everything about this movie except the fact that they had to use shitty cameras to film it.
